I recently aquired this Montgomery Wards 12 gauge
Its tight as a tick.
Hmmmm, had one just like that, sold it to a guy in New Mexico in the '70's
My muzzle job on the void between barrels is to shove a little tuft of brass wool in void, flux and fill with low temp silver solder. Draw file square with barrels.
TOPS,You are more ambitious than I am. I'm lazy. I will admit it looks better with the void filled but it shoots just as good not filled. Larry
This was 20+ years ago so my memory could be wrongFilling void with low temp silver solder takes no skill at all. It is done in seconds with propane torch. Anyone that can light a torch can do it. Any cold blue will turn the silver solder dark. I’ve not come across any cold bluing that has any effect on JB weld.
There must be lots of lazy people. I don’t know how many times I have had cheap SxSs at shows and nobody even flipped the tags. Then I got smart and started cutting them to 18.25”, jack price at least $50 and they will be sold before lunch. Works on cheap pumps and autos too.
I like this.No, I love this.
Trouble for me would be, I'd probably keep them rather than sell them. Many inexpensive Stevens 311s/Fox Model Bs were cut down to 18-20" bbls when they were available at reasonable $. The company even made a 311R model with 18" bbls.

I believe that one was built by Savage-Stevens. Possibly a Model 235.
What the...?!!!! I own my dad’s old Wards Hercules 12 gauge Which is a hammer less version of this. A very solid gun. I’ve thought about getting it shortened. I never seen one with hammers before in years of cowboy shootin’ in the 80s and 90s. And, Muley Gil, thanks for naming the real maker which I always forget. I could use a factory butT stock for mine.I recently aquired this Montgomery Wards 12 gauge
