I'll bet he was a "place holder" at the dinner table!!
I'll bet he has urgent business in the restroom when the dishes need doing, too.

I was paying my bill at a local gun shop. Total was $110.00. I gave the young lady a $50 and three $20s. She called another clerk over and fanned out the money on the counter and asked him if it was right. Said she just hated it when people gave her mixed bills.
"Dozen" isn't in the metric/SI system, so nobody has been taught about it since 1990.
.....and I would bet even the dunbest would know if they got a box of donuts with 11!They still put it on egg cartons.

They still put it on egg cartons.
And people make fun of West Virginia.
The local hardware/grocery/gun shop/gas station/diner lost their internet and couldn't take credit cards. So they asked people to pay in cash. The change of which they calculated in their heads.
I really like living out here.
By the way, out here "local" is within a 30 mile radius.
But the posters above were ordering fried chicken parts. That's different, so "dozen" doesn't apply, because it's only used for eggs.
BTW, "placeholder" can be used to describe someone you date until you meet someone you really like. Maybe the 28 year-old son was just filling in until a more responsible person could come care for the parents.
At least he recognizes his actual worth.A place holder in mathematics is a "zero."
