It's really getting old in this country about people being offended by what someone says, does, or whatever, but when it hits this very informative S&W Forum I'm at my wits end (to put it nicely!) Freedom of speech is one of our God given rights as Americans, so I will respect that. But when someone is letting the rest of us enjoy his collection of some pictures of his uncle's WWII bring-backs (Firearms and Knives-Other Brands) and one person has to ruin the post with his/her comment about how it offends them and why would the OP post the pictures, I believe if it were me, I'd keep my freedom of speech to myself. It's bad enough to see what is going on in our country with the "civil unrest", etc., but this forum is my and many other's "Happy Place" to go to and learn about our common interest in, mainly, firearms and show off some very cool pictures of the nicest guns I've ever seen. Also, some very nice knives and daggers. The information on here is endless and priceless (literally free!). Nothing was said out of the bounds of forum rules, I believe, and I hope my post here is inside the rules. It's only my opinion. Please accept my apology for this dark post. It's just that I'm sick of seeing my country, the U.S.A., falling apart in front of my eyes and then seeing someone belittling, in a way, another Forum member because he/she's offended by his collection.
God please help us all.

I must have missed that one, but if it were me I'd have told Mr/Ms Offended to go jump in the river and feel free to skip over my post if it hurts their tender little feelings. Getting offended by historical objects makes about as much sense as getting offended by the sunrise. Both are a fact of life and beyond anyone's ability to change.

So I have to respond to this post as I believe it relates to my original post that I was offended by the OP's original post regarding WWII Nazi daggers.

If that's not the case, please let me know.

First off, you promote Freedom of Speech, based upon your comments, to allow the original post, but my Freedom of of speech to disagree is invalid, wrong, or unnecessary.

That by it's own merits deems your post as invalid and poorly thought out, bases upon the comments in your post!

If I posted a comment that I'm a collector of Jewish bones, burned in German ovens, would you on the same premise, consider them to be OK?

Shame on you!

If the Mods want to ban me, then so be it

BC38, Yes, you're right! That person just got me at the wrong time and I fell into the trap! It wasn't even my post! Those were some nice trophies the man's uncle brought back from Germany! Spokane's a big town; never been out there though. My niece owns a shop there selling stuff that's legal out there and I believe she does aroma therapy, cupping, massage, etc. No hanky-panky! Elements of Sunshine I believe. I'd like to take a West Coast trip one day. I just retired as of April 1st, so next year maybe travel will be safer. I am really sorry for my post, but I've really had enough of these offended snowflakes! (Heck, my own niece out there is one of the BM movement people! Remember the Civil War?) Peace!

Well, jeffrefrig, it appears to me that you spent a lot more words and negative energy being offended by that post than the poster spent expressing being offended by the Nazi daggers.

Besides, far from "ruining the post", it led to a thoughtful discussion which addressed some important issues in a respectful manner, without interfering with factual discussions of the OP's daggers.

Your sort-of-apology does lose a bit of its punch when someone as hyper-sensitive as you accuses others of being "offended snowflakes".

problem is that these forums will cater to the bullys and lose many good people.... many high traffic forums are now ghost towns cus this very reason
I've never looked at anything on this planet and said "that offends me" i might not like something,, but i move along.. Good Day !

I have the right to express myself, my beliefs, likes and dislikes.

You have the right to do the same and to be offended by my remarks

You even have the right to tell me your offended.

I have the right to say "To bad."

To me it all depends on how you look at the daggers. I see excellent steel production and craftsmanship AND its failure to force its will on the world. Some of the Nazis greatest symbols reduced to curios by those who conquered them.

The pyramids were built with slave labor. Still impressive.

I am more offended by somebody saving Eva Braun's undies. I guess not so much offended but, kind of "What the heck"

I have never liked censorship. I think it stifles real thought.

But, I wouldn't dream of bringing up some subjects anywhere I pleased. If I go to YOUR living room I will try to keep the conversation with in YOUR bounties. If I don't like the discussion, I can always leave. If you come to mine if you get offended you can get out the same way you got in.

This is a forum that is focused on weapons. Not necessarily weapons for the sake of them being weapons. Some weapons are used for immoral purposes and always have been.

I don't believe anyone forced anyone else to click on the Nazi dagger thread and NOBODY was praising Nazis or their atrocities. When, I look at a Thompson submachine gun, I see an interesting piece of machinery. I don't think of it as evil because of the St Valentines day massacre.

In the past people have posted pictures and comments about several of the concentration camps. Always with humility. Ovens and cemeteries full of Jewish bones. I don't recall anyone being offended.

Lets not bury the past. If we do so, we are apt to forget it.

You certainly have that right.

Comparing collecting weapons of and collecting human remains is like comparing porn to kiddie porn. There is a difference.

BTW I'm not in support of collecting any kind of porn, just pointing out the absurdity of the comparison.

Are you equally offended by Lugers? How about Walthers? Ermas? Leather holsters?

...like comparing apples to bowling balls ;)

I will learn from this and just move on & brush it off in the future. This is where I learn from history.
(On a side note, "sniveling wankers" would be a cool name for a rock band! A sort of reference from the humor columnist Dave Barry.)

One may wish to apply to the Ministry of offensiveness. I understand that Monday Wednesday and Friday they are set up to offend people but you must have an appointment. Tuesday and Thursday they are set up to be offended and walk ins are welcome.

I am the minister in charge today.

Bugger off you bunch of sniveling wankers. Now go hide under your mother's skirts and play with her private parts!!.

Ok. Next!:D
