.22 LR Price

I hadn't seen 50 round boxes of standard .22 LR for a while, but bulk pack (333, 500, 550 rounds) were at about 5-6 cents apiece.

When I can still find it at Walmart, still $.05-$.08/round. Just picked up a Winchester 333 pack for $17.51. They had 3 100 round packs of Winchester Super X @ $7.54 ea.
I haven't been looking for 22 ammo, just happened across these while grocery shopping. A few weeks ago, I found 1 100 pack of CCI Mini Mags @ $7.67, and they were Hollow Points.

Generally, just prior to Covid and a couple of political uprisings, a really good price on bulk ammo would have been $.04/ round, but generally if your were buying 50 round boxes, you would probably pay at least twice that. A brick (500) of quality ammo would probably cost $25-30 or so.

Saw some 50 round boxes Sunday for $5.99 each

What brand and type?

The last time 22LR became scarce there were times all you could find was expensive target ammo. This was expensive even when ammo was plentiful and was left on the shelf until all the cheap stuff was gone.

For the last 2 years, TargetSportsUSA has had Aguilla Super Extra Hollow Point for $179/5000. That's $1.79/box and despite what some say about the brand, it is good ammo. They are now out of stock at $400/5000.

My favorite general purpose good quality .22 ammo is the CCI Mini Mags in either HP or solid points. It seemed to me that $7.99 for a pack of 100 was a good price. After the last panic subsided and they became readily available again I used to buy a few boxes at every gun show for that price.
About the only .22 LR ammo I have seen in boxes of 50 recently have either been the CCI Stingers, Standard Velocity or Velocitors, or the assorted specialty ammo from Aguila.

Even now the price may vary. The ammo comes and goes in batches. Last month there were thousands of Aquila .22LR 2,000 rd boxes available for $0.08 per rd.
Now I do not see anything for less than $0.14 per round.

I bought 2 boxes of eley supersonic for $4 a box a few months ago, and some cci sv for $3 a few before that....haven't been able to find mini mags as of late though.

The eley was all that was left on the shelf at the time.

I just saw a box of Winchester .22 sell at an auction for $70.90 plus 10% buyers premium plus 6% sales tax. Box of 555 rounds. Ouch!

Aguila licensed the Eley priming system, and are pretty reliably. Most of the shooters in my Bullseye league use either CCI STD Vel, or Aguila STD Vel. I can tell the Aguila by the smell.

I used some Aguila Super Extra yesterday at the range. You could hear the difference in the rounds as they were fired. About every third of fourth round fired, it would be noticeably louder. Had two distinct groups, one about an inch higher than the other. Will give it to the Grandkids to shoot as they are learning.

Didn't see a lot of 50 round boxes here, but you could get 100 CCI Mini Mag for $7.99 all day. The price is still about the same when it's available, and .22 is much more readily available than 9mm or .38 Special . . .

Before the current panic, what was the average retail price for a 50 round box of .22 Long Rifle ammo ?

CCI Mini Mag is now $17/100, if if you can find it

I believe The Second Wave of .22 hoarding has begun!, its out there, but $75-80$ a brick of 500 seems to be the average.

Crazy, I know

In March I ordered some stuff from midway and included a brick of Remington HV .22s because they were available (one to a customer). They were $22.49 or about $0.045 each. That same brick of .22s is now $41.99 or about $0.084 per round but they are out of stock.

I just checked online and found in stock Armscor .22LR for $9. a box. 9 m/m is $32.99-$39.99 depending on brand and case. I have to believe that price and availability is what I can find and buy. One or two boxes at some store for a low price is not the current price or availability and a listed price without having it in stock is moot. Larry

Just bought 25 bricks of Norma Tac-22 for $45 a brick.

That is some great stuff, works in every . 22 I have, never had problems with it. A little slick and oily, makes feeding 10-22 mags an adventure at times, bring paper towels, lol.

Actually I almost prefer that over CCI mini mags, both are about all I shoot. Fiocchi subsonic 40 gr lead round nose is pretty good too, all feed flawlessly.
