Post up some 586’s

I see a lot of "no dash" 586's, and most all have the S&W emblem stamped on the left side of the frame, below the thumb latch.

My no dash, and several others I have seen, have the S&W stamp on the right side, on the side plate.

When did S&W make the change to the left side stamping? My gun was the first L Frame my gun shop had seen, and was supposedly in the first production run.

My no-dash has the logo on the side plate. I believe it to be from 1981.

My no dash is from '85ish. It has the stamp on the side plate.

My first new gun in 1985. No dash with a Patridge.

jeff85, I really like your 586.:)

My first L-Frame was a 6" 686 no-dash that I bought in 1985 also....& like yours it had a Patridge front sight. I traded it in the mid-90's for a shotgun.:(

If I was ever tempted to get another 586 (got 2 now, see post #10) it would be just like yours, a 6" no-dash with the Patridge sight.:)
