Some recent ammo prices

Thank God I was raised by Depression-era parents! I bought a bunch of 22 LR when it dropped to 4 cents a round early last year, and bought up on primers and powder at 'valleys' in demand over the past several years.

I have a few hundred Win LRM primers in the white & orange boxes leftover from the Clinton scare.

Saw an LGS with 9mm at .50 per round. Worst I saw online yesterday a local scalper selling 380 JHP at 3.00 per round and 380 FMJ at 1.75 per round. Not a typo my friends.

Buddy came over today. Loaded premium components in 9mm on the 1050. Zero 124 JHP.09, CCI primer .03, Processed WCC brass .05, WSF 1.4. Less than $200 per K for premium match ammo. Every round was gauged after loading.

I went to the LGS Friday to browse and check gun and ammo prices. I looked at a Taurus G3C which has a MSRP of $309, online prices averaging around $320, and they were selling for $449.
To feed it with generic 115gr range ammo would cost $1.00 a round.
Seems like the closer we get to January 20th the higher prices are getting.

Ammo Prices

It's funny two years ago 9mm was 16 cents p/round and no one felt bad for the ammo distributors/manufacturers trying to sell their overstock cause they ramped up the last couple years after the last shortage. Now $1 p/round is scalping! It's economics! Supply and demand, didn't everyone learn that in school. Buy low/sell high, the mantra of capitalism.

In stores around here prices....

Are somewhat higher than that. IF you can find it.

I was buying 8mm Mauser for a friend and could get two 20 round boxes for $25/box. But wait, those were the 'rimmed' ammo. The rimless ammo cost $45/box. Since it's a new gun and I'm going to shoot it I told him I'd split it with him and 'bit the bullet'. Yow!

I'll definitely get some reloading dies. I'd presume I could find some online for less, but we are going shooting day after tomorrow.

I suspect the days of on-line sales of ammo and components are numbered.

I've given up looking on places like Ammo Seek. Have you seen the prices? Federal website or LGS only now. Even at my LGS, this Saturday I had to shell out $60.00 for 1 box of .45 Federal white box and 1 box of 9mm S&B. Sad days ahead fellas.

SW Ohio....this week

Just bought 200 rds of Win 5.56 62gr Green tip at Bass Pro for $10.99/box.

9mm is $27.99/50 box Federal

.22lr is $42/525 box Federal

I have several thousands of rounds loaded and the components to load a few thousand more. The only ammo I buy is .22 and only if it's reasonable. If this panic ever blows over I will focus all my efforts into stockpiling up on components. Only ammo I ever bought online was .30-06 from the CMP to feed my Garand and they dried up years ago. I'm gonna stick to rim fire for a while. Have 20,000 rounds of that. I'll continue to stockpile that.

I'd say online sales of ammo or components will eventually stop, and with Walmart out of the ammo business anybody buying factory ammo is gonna have to overpay, even if the panic ends.

$9.99 per 50 fd box of CCI Standard velocity at big LGS around here.
Unreal price for .22`s
Good Luck

Other than new gun owners who need ammo to feed a new gun they're going to use for protection, where maybe 2 boxes are needed, I can't imagine why anybody would pay these prices. That's why the panic is still going on. People buying when they don't need to. Now is not the time to blow off boxes of ammo at the range for giggles.

I will not pay these prices, like I wouldn't pay 2 grand for an AR after Newtown.

Ditto

I just bought 100rds of Silver Bear and 200rds of Brown Bear 203gr sp 7.62x54r for my mosin

I figure the overseas shipments will be first to get shut down and you just cant find this stuff anymore

For the same price as 2 20 rd boxes of 30-30 prices right now! lol

Yup. I just ran through Armslist here in Tucson and saw run of the mill CCI and Federal 22lr at 20, then 30, then 50 cents per round. Now I don't feel so bad that I stocked up when prices for 22lr where just starting to creep to craziness.

The only thing on that list available at any of the LGS's I haunt here in the Endless Mountains is 12 gauge,

Yay! I found two boxes of PMC .32acp for $20 a box at my LGS. Sad when I feel like that's a bargain

Got an email ad from Arms Unlimited today. They had, among others, .45 ACP on sale. Only $800/1000 rounds, down from $850. Did qualify for free shipping though. Geez, I would hope so! Heckuva deal!
