Some recent ammo prices

In 2003 I bought a truck for $30,000. I got a tax bill last week and it is valued at less than $3,000. I have lost $27,000 on that one vehicle. It doesn't make sense for me too worry about the cost of a box of ammo or over paying a couple of hundred for a gun. Larry

BINGO! You are absolutely correct!

BTW, my 1993 4x4 truck cost me ~$16,000. Current replacement is now ~$26,000. The lesson I learned is to KEEP purchases (guns, ammo, trucks, etc) much much longer. In other words... even today's "outrageous" ammo prices will eventually be perceived as being cheap. Focus on long-term ownership, and that requires small regular purchases looking out 5-10 or more years of supplies. Just saying... ;)

I was in my LGS the other day and their shelves are bare and they explained why, made perfect sense.

I've been wanting more .45 ACP, the only place I could find that had it in stock they wanted $1/per round.

A friend recommended a place to me that he just bought all the .223 he wanted. I just now checked and it looks like their .223 is now on backorder.

I just bought 250 rounds of .45 ACP for 80¢ per round from there.

Not cheap but they have it in stock.

They also have .44 mag, .357 mag and 40 S&W in stock.

I'm not even bothering. Looking for ammo at reasonable prices is as futile as finding a $500 AR after Sandy Hook. I have better things to do than continually surf ammo sites looking for supply.

Simple fix: shoot a lot less. It's like when coffee prices go stupid, decide how much you really need that caffeine buzz.

I need to eat, don't need to shoot.

I invested into co2 BB handguns and rifles plus a pump pellet gun to put meat on the table quietly if need be. I have a battalion of squirrels. Plus turkeys and rabbits. Hope I never need them. I have boxes of 22, s/l/lr.

Too bad the surplus ammo dried up.

Got an email ad from Arms Unlimited today. They had, among others, .45 ACP on sale. Only $800/1000 rounds, down from $850. Did qualify for free shipping though. Geez, I would hope so! Heckuva deal!

Miwall Corp is offering 1000 CCI MiniMags (no, I did not omit a zero) for $449

Holy ****!!

I have pretty much stopped shooting altogether over the last year.
Ammo is too precious of a commodity to shoot away just for fun.
Don't see things changing for a long time.

OMG, that's just so sad.

For me, shooting IS what's fun.

If I run out, I run out. At least I will have had fun in the meantime. For me, the worst thing I could imagine is to die and still have a stash of ammo left. Now, that would be a waste, and certainly NO fun...

Been looking for 300 blackout and cheapest is about $1.50 and up. To feel better paying that much check Cheaper Stealer Dirt's website. Armscor two days ago was $29 per 20 rounds, today it is $69 per 20. Wonder why they have ammuniion.

Ammo prices are nuts. $1/rd for surplus 5.56. $1 per round for 9mm. Go on ammoseek and try to find .22LR. .30-50 per round.

For the most part I'm in pretty good shape. Ironically, the only thing I'm really light on is .22 - which is what I really want to start shooting more of while I wait for ammo prices to become more reasonable.

About 2 months ago paid for a membership at Target Sports USA, which I've used in the past and always had good experiences with.

I feel like they should give me my money back. They literally have nothing to buy. .223/5/56 - completely out of stock. .308 - completely out of stock. 6.5CM - completely out of stock. 45 - completely out of stock. 9mm - completely out of stock. .22 LR - completely out of stock.

After an extensive internet search finally found a company selling 5000 rounds of CCI SV for what looked like a somewhat reasonable price. Added the items to the cart and didn't get some pop-up that item was backordered/OOS. Starting getting pretty stoked. Began the process of checking out. Went to put in my address and the pull down menu had the following choices: New South Wales, Tasmania, Queensland, Victoria, etc.

That's right, the seller was located in Australia.

I was pleased to get 50rds of 9mm today for $12.97.

All things in moderation. I've skipped lunch before too buy ammo. :D Larry

Didn't skip any meals, but, for several years after Y2K I bought no guns and concentrated just on ammo when prices bottomed out. Cases of 7.62x51 from AIM for $149, shipped. 2 cases of the SK made Wolf MT for $186 each, shipped, 7.62x39 that was $60 to $75/case and similarily discounted .45acp. Got the least of the .45acp, but ended up with 4k rounds of that. The 2, 7.62 rounds were over 7k for each and the .22lr, over 10k with some bricks of CCI SV. There was zero 5.56 or, 9mm, since I had no guns in those calibers. Still don't.

Once the AWB sunsetted in 2004 ammo prices climbed rapidly and I went back to buying guns in the calibers I had stockpiled.

There is not much that those 4 calibers won't handle, but, I did snag a C. Sharps 1875 in .45-70 for what they may miss. That one was NOT bought by the case.

All those first time gun buyers? Between the pandemic and events of Jan 6, I really believe that there will be no rush to get rid of those newly purchased firearms. The future is certainly uncertain and no telling what next comes out of left field. JMO

Like you, I often buy ammo for guns I don't yet have...I'm stocking up on Webley .455 ammo and reloading supplies, though I don't have a Webley.
I know one is in my future, and Webley ammo can still be found at decent prices despite the current madness.

Prices are still climbing. At my favorite online store the price of brass case 9mm FMJ before shipping has gone from $.17/round last year to $.80 - $.85 today. And even at those prices they cannot keep it in stock. It was around $.70 a week or two ago. I still think once people realize the world is not coming to an end prices will come down to earth but it is going to take a while.

Go on ammoseek and try to find .22LR. .30-50 per round.

And thats the cheap stuff

I saw this coming and stocked up in CCI mini mags last year

People here be like.."oh, dont spend $35 for a brick of 500, thats crazy, prices will come down in a couple weeks, just wait it out"

Yeah, right lol

Today's price for same is .90 cpr, ammosseek, " CCI 500 rd brick- $449.99"

Should have enough of everything now, for the next 8 years, at least.

I'm good.

Been buying 10 rd mags for handguns too, they will be next hotness, you'll see.

.22LR $0.26.. .357 none.. .38 Spec. $1.40.. .380 $1.30.. .45ACP $0.96.. 9m/m $0.82 Larry

I posted the quote 1-10 the today prices are: .22LR $0.33.. 357 none.. 38 Spec. none.. .380 $2.00.. .45ACP $1.00.. 9m/m $0.90
At least last week there was some .38 Spec. and now there is none. The price has gone up on everything else. I'm led to believe the ammo situation is getting worse.
I have a couple of old top break pistols chambered in .32 S&W and a couple of boxes of bullets. If things keep going downhill they might get valuable. :D Larry

9mm defensive ammo was the last to feel the pain, it was still hovering around $1 a rd for months

Not no more...

9mm 124 gr Gold Dot HP+p, 50 rds - $149.99, on ammoseek today

Anf if $3 a rd wasnt enough, I found some Win. 115 gr Silvertips, 20rd, $79.95, $4 a rd for 9mm, there ya go!
