Which weight J frame carry guns do you prefer?

For me, it's either a 442 or a 640 Pro. My only other gun is a 34C, just for fun at the range. No hammer spurs, no internal locks, and all three were purchased new this year. All in first class condition. I would like to see the 442 frame produced in a 6 shot 32 H&R Magnum. I would probably carry with 32 long. I practice mostly with the 640, with starting level 125 gr plated reloads. Better for my 78 YO hands. I carry Federal 130 gr HST micro. These are plus P, but, for whatever reason, shot like standard pressure loads. Holsters for both are Lobo Gun Leather Original Pancake, with a Mika pocket holster for occasional pocket carry. Having just the Centennial revolvers insures that I will practice double action only, since I have no choice. Works for me.

Best,
Rick

Obligatory pic of my 60.

Steel

I've owned several airweights, 642, 442 and always ended up selling or trading them, usually after a trip to the range. If I practiced with the +P rounds I carried, they were just too uncomfortable.

So It was always back to the old Model 60-7. A few ounces heavier but a better action (trigger) and much more pleasant with ALL ammo.

I'd love to carry an airweight provided I knew I would NEVER need to use it - but no handgun comes with such a guarantee!

442...effortless to carry.
If I want steel, I'll go to the Colt Cobra

It's funny that you mention Colt Cobra. I've been toting Models 37 all week and today grabbed my daughter's 2017 Colt Cobra. It feels like a brick. Much prefer my old school Cobras / Agents but have to say that this new model is solid. Quality revolver. Here it is in TT Gunleather KX Lightweight. I hope that it's not a major violation to post a non-SW revolver in this thread. If I want steel it's usually a 36 or 60 ot 649.

Here's a Model 60 to make up for the Colt pic:

I've broken 2 airweights and 1 scandium. Yet to break a steel J, but also don't carry any of those with regularity so not quite fair. If I could find one of the older (smaller) 640s I'd snap that up and call it good.

This'll be the second Model 37 dropped into this thread. Today, carried this 1977 Model 37 square butt. The stocks feel great in hand and conceal easy with this TT Gunleather holster.

I was wondering where the love for the 37 was. I love mine.

Anyone carry a steel-framed J-frame in a pocket holster?

Sometimes...

Mika pocket holster.

But my new favorite is this custom Snubbyfan holster.
