At least 8 dead in shooting at Indianapolis FedEx facility

“Indianapolis police said that the shooter took his own life and there is "no active threat to the community at this time,” according to the Associated Press.”

Jeez, this is becoming almost a common place occurrence, almost a weekly shootings event lately. What the heck is happening? Penned up angst and nuttiness because of COVID?

Let's keep these in perspective too: Literally a few hundred people per year die in "mass shootings." Out of a country of 333 Million.

Of course the media and anti-gun crowd are going to over-cover these types of events, but "mass shootings" in the entire country per year make up a couple months of simple handgun violence in a single city such as Chicago (which gets zero coverage).

Agreed. The New York Post is reporting that the killer shot one victim who was retrieving or had retrieved a firearm from his/her vehicle in an apparent attempt to engage . . .

I read 2 articles stating Fedex policy was "No cell phones" allowed inside building for employees so I would bet that personal firearms were a definite no no.

Certainly leaves the coward offender easy choices and a soft target.

Of course any time more than one person is shot, it's either an "Active Shooter" or "Mass Shooting" with 24/7 (slanted) news coverage that amplifies the hysteria.

I responded to more than incident where more than one person was shoot. That included one where 4 adults and a child were executed in a drug deal gone bad.

Barely a ripple in the local media about that.

Just saw an eyewitness on TV who claimed an employee tried to pull a rifle out of his truck to confront the murderer - he got killed.

Why should a law-abiding person EVER have to "retrieve" a legal firearm from their vehicle? In particular, with (extremely) LIMITED exceptions, how can a person with a LTC be prevented from carrying their personal property in areas arbitrarily declared "Gun Free Zones" by businesses, employers, etc., when that is exactly the intended purpose of their license/permit; to potentially level the playing field in such a situation when they're outside of their home, whether in or on public or private property? It's even illegal in some of these socialist republics to leave a firearm in a vehicle.

The right to self-defense is that; a Right! Imagine implementing a policy prohibiting wheelchairs or service dogs ANYWHERE. The arm is an emergency LIFE SUPPORT system!

There needs to be a class-action lawsuit for obvious civil rights violations concerning these arbitrary "Gun Free Zones." I'm sure it would be a priority for a 13 person Supreme Court...right?

Maybe I'm I just a "Deplorable" knuckle-dragging Neanderthal...but how I long for the times of relative sanity in the country of my youth well before this Socialist Revolution.

In my youth (60s through middle adult years in the 90s), no one could carry a weapon concealed in public or on other people's property without a permit - there are/were some rare exceptions.

My state (NM) always allowed carry of a concealed firearm in your automobile.

.......because these events concerns us as responsible gun owners, Americans and also as human beings. If one chooses to ignore events like this, that’s their choice. However, ignoring these tragic events doesn’t make them disappear, nor prepare us for the eventual counter fallout.
Also, I don’t believe I was bring “publicity” to this news report, but was providing information of interest to our members here.

This is obviously a tragedy, and might have been less so if somebody had been in a position to fight back effectively with a firearm. Too bad nobody was, and a guy who tried apparently didn’t succeed.

But let’s cut all this pseudo-historical nonsense. There never was any happy time in this country when everybody freely carried guns everywhere. In fact, there have never been as many people carrying personal defense guns in as many places legally as nowadays.
