Lucky 22LR find

The up side is that in about 18 months, after the economy goes belly up and people are scraping for rent money, the market will get flooded with all the guns and ammo that were bought in a panic. Stuff will be selling at 10 cents on the dollar.
LOL oh really? Guns and ammo are going to drop 90% huh? After the 08 election priced didn't drop a dime in 2011. After the 12 election prices didn't drop in 2014. As everybody knows it continuously went up. If there isn't a change in Admin the increase just started and will rise for the next 8 years as a whole.
I don't know how this stuff gets made up.

CCI has a 10 box limit, but at federal you can get 2 - 800 round boxes of 22's, good luck

The ammo will keep showing up at elevated prices until you folks that are so eager to buy have your closets full (this may be quite a while), then the prices will drop so the average folks can afford to buy and shoot some.
Not going to happen significantly as the manufactures have caught up with the market. ALL the manufacturers have raised the MSRP across the board on everything now.
Good luck and welcome to a new 'normal'.

I'll admit I'm not very smart but if I was betting I would bet that's a fanstay. If it is the truth I'll really be stocked up for the next shortage. Larry

Early Bird catches the Worms!

I logged into the CCI website this morning 5am Mountain time and found the same 22LR ammo available again today. 10 box max @ 3.99

I have a question. So when you buy from CCI or others, is there
Tax, Postage, and a Hazardous Material fee that has to be paid?

I paid tax on my CCI order and as i was below the free ship minimum paid shipping as well. Was a reasonable price all things considered. I did not see any haz fee added.

I disagree this all started with the word "pandemic" on the 6 o'clock news as mentioned above. This all started with the riots that started last year and the three letters "BLM" and the cries to defund the police. People rushed to the gun stores for one reason....to defend themselves and their families. The pandemic made things worse after a few months when work forces were cut back and raw materials needed by the industry were in short supply. Throw in the 2020 election and a few mass shootings and the resulting demand for gun control.....IMO that's why things are the way they are.

BLM was initiated in 2016. The Minneapolis riots started in May, 2020. The Pandemic was announced on March 11, 2020.

On March 12, 2020 WalMart had ample supplies of .22LR. By the end of March (in my town) the shelves were bare.

On March 12, 2020, the web site of my preferred online supplier showed powder and primers were in stock. I ordered a good quantity of SPP, LPP, Unique and Bullseye. They shipped the next day. By March 15, their web site showed all to be out of stock.

Hence my six oh clock prediction. Of course the riots exacerbated the problem, and certainly was instrumental in the numbers of guns purchased, but it was the sickness that got the ball rolling...

Another trip to Academy today to return the shoes my wife bought 2 weeks ago (When I got 4 boxes of CCI). On the drive there about 3 miles from the store I noticed an Academy semi going the other way and I wondered if they got any ammo delivered. Alas, when I got to the Gun department today the ammo shelves were bare. I spent a few minutes browsing, checking out the few guns in the case among other things, and when I walked around the corner there was 2 Academy guys with a cart full of boxes of all kinds of ammo. stocking the shelves. This was at 2:00pm, so the truck must have been late. I was able to pick up 2 boxes of Federal AE 124gr ($18.49 ea) and two 100 round boxes of CCI mini-mag 40gr CPRN ($11.99 ea).

I'm still waiting for the patio furniture I ordered 6 months ago. Maybe they put it on the same truck with the ammo.

interesting banter. i shall remain closed lipped on this one. krs/kenny

Isn't it interesting now that people pay .08/.10 cpr and brag about what a bargain they got?

For them it is. The going rate is now .18-.20 cents a round. If they can get it at .08-.1 a round they are buying at 50% of the current market price.

After I ordered from CCI's website and paid .08 cpr for standard velocity and .20 cpr for Velocitor, I looked at the going prices at ammoseek.com. The cheapest I found standard vel was .18 cpr and Velocitor at .40 cpr.
Shipping was free ($100 minimum order) and unfortunately Florida just started requiring sales tax on internet sales.
All brick and mortar stores near me, except Academy, charge double what I paid at CCI.

Stopped in local Gander Outdoors this am. Had a lot of 12 gauge and 20 gauge shot shells. Some "Red Army" Russian made 5.56 and Aguila .22lr. One box of each caliber for "non-members", 3 boxes for "Good Sam" members.

The Aguila 22lr high velocity was $3.95 per box of fifty and the Aguila Interceptor 22lr hyper velocity .40 grain (1470 fps) was $7.95. I am not a "member" so I bought a box of Interceptor as I have never shot them.
