9mm in Stock as low as $29.99

So I got yet another email from Cheaper Than Dirt, advertising more 9mm ammo back in stock. Clicked the link, Magtech 115 grain FMJ box of 50 for $59.89. Once again I ask, is Cheaper Than Dirt's dirt actually gold dust?

Yeah, and less than 2 years ago the "conventional wisdom" was "why would ANYONE tie up money in components and then waste their time reloading something as common and cheap as 9mm?"

I can still feed my little herd of 9mm bottom feeders for less than 10 cents a round - $5 a box - using components I bought back when people were telling me I was stupid for even wasting my time reloading 9mm.

You and me both. Same with all the other cartridges I shoot as well.

I've got one a those little reloading kits, one you load one round at a time, I bought at Winfree's back in the early 80's for like $25. Wish I'd invested in a progressive.

My LGS over the last month has had a lot of AE 9mm 124gr on and off their floor at $19.95/bx. By a lot, I mean hundreds of boxes.
Last week there were 9MM @19.95, 22lr @ $.95/c, 40 @ $22.95, 38sp @ $28.95, and 45 @ @28.95.
Higher than a year ago but nowhere near what I see from the likes of Ammoseek.

Range rounds are one thing but self defense rounds are something else entirely.

Not sure about how others may feel, but if I did not value my life over the cost of proven effective SD rounds, I most likely would not carry a firearm in the first place.

If I wasn't sitting on a good bit of personal defense ammo I'd be ordering 100rnds of the good stuff at $2.00 a rnd...........

I was awake very early the other day and checked Federals website and they had 9mm in stock. I was able to get two 50 round boxes each of 115gr Champion Training and 124gr American Eagle for $18.49 a box, and two 20 round boxes of Punch 124gr HP for $20.99 each. They have a two box limit.
Also went to the CCI website and found 22LR in stock and ordered a brick of CCI Standard Velocity 40gr LRN for $39.90 and six 50 round boxes of CCI Velocitor 32gr CPHP at $9.99 each.

i was in the local Sportsmens Warehouse today and they had CCI 115 gr. ball 9mm, brass cases, at $18.99. I didn't buy any, didn't need it, but they also had 40S&W, .22 Mag., 30/06 and some others at close to normal prices. I'm told they had primers yesterday but those were all gone. Maybe things are starting to loosen up a little bit.

Reality check time. LE agencies are paying <0.30/rd for 9mm. If you pay more then somebody is sending their kids to college on your dime. It isn't rocket surgery. 0.60/rd isn't a good deal.

Same here at our local store. Primers and powder were reported available yesterday morning, but long gone by the time I got there at 3pm

Blazer is actually very accurate in my glock. Picked up two boxes and shot them. Aluminum cased, I believe Winchester brand, did not run at all in my buddy's FA - UZI.

My two "best ammo in stock" items are, 9mm followed by lots and lots and lots of 22 Blaser. Decided on keeping the 9mm stuff on the shelve because I'm to cheap to pay $600.00 a case on GB should I run out so, have religated my shooting to 22Lr only. Actually finding this fun because, it's made me get out my Smith 22's and shoot them a little, also a couple SS 22 benchrest rifles I have not shot in years. With ammo so hard to come by, do we have to wait until the stupids who elected Biden wake up and vote sensibly before things recover? or is it the virus that somehow caused the shortage? I really hate reloading pistol ammo but do have the "makings" to do it, but not a progressive setup, nor the desire to do one at a time, yet.

2021 Reality check time.
Maybe if you get 250,000 rounds delivered multiple times per year like my agency does, then possibly, you'll get something under $0.80 per round for premium defense loads. A one time order? No chance.
Its only the big agencies ordering hundreds of thousands of rounds on a regular recurring basis are still paying close to what they were last year. Not too many people I know oder ammo by the pallet. Especially on a frequent basis.

Smaller police agencies are having just as hard a time finding ammo as the guy walking into academy sports on saturday afternoon.

Thats just truth.

I think we're rounding the corner now.
I don't need any ammo but I have been watching prices since this started (since the toilet paper and lysol run).

Prices haven't dropped online yet. Still seeing 9mm brass for 80 cents, and steel for about 58 cents.

But instead of having to look around to find any, I'm beginning to get daily emails pushing those prices from places, some with coupon codes to get 5-10% off. And there's options in brand now- quite a few places have a choice between 3 or more brands, not just Tula steel or "who are they" brass.

That tells me inventory is catching up, and soon (like maybe by fall or winter), prices will drop again. Simply put, I don't think a seller (an online shop) can afford to sit on ammo. They have to sell it, to keep money flow coming in, avoid paying taxes on large reserves, etc.
