So just a quick question here. Is it the same every where across the country with the ammo prices and availability? Here in SW PA. Some ammo is on the shelves 9mm, 5.56, and some odd ball stuff here and there. Prices keep climbing, primers and 22 are impossible to find. I did find shotgun shells for trap at $80.00 a case. But I'm driving 1.5hrs to get them. I've heard rumors of things down south are not as bad? What's it like across the country?

No, not the same. .22 LR HP HV is not hard to find here (Midwest). Neither is .45 ACP or 9mm. Prices at stores that charge normal retail are up about $5/box. It DOES sell out, but every 2~4 days there is more. .357 is harder to find, but available at Cabela's about once a week. 38 spl is hardest to find at retail prices, and I have not seen any since about Xmas.

Last night I went to a small local dealer who was handling a transfer of a 1911. He offered me a 200 round box of WWB 45 ACP doe $97 plus tax. I thought about but have a few ammo cans of 45 ACP so passed. On a whim I asked if he had any 32 ACP, he said yes, how many boxes did I want and I replied two. He apologized that the price was higher than last year but said his wholesale price was up 10% so far this year. He sold me 2 boxes of PMC for $18 a box plus tax.

I have seen some ammo and primers the last week or so at local shops but prices were high. $120. a k at one place and 150 at another for primers. Ammo seek list ammo of all types but none cheap but most no higher than you will find at a store if you are lucky enough to find any.

Here in my neck of Ohio the local store I went to had .32 and .38 Special for $49.99 a box of 50. Most 9mm was 32-35 a box for fmj. Hollow points were a bit all over the place, 25- 35 for a box of 20 or 25. .45 acp was around 40 a box. Most of their 12 gauge was out of stock

I posted a few days ago....

I visited my LGS where I can usually purchase SOMETHING and ran out screaming. Didn't even buy a target. The little that was there was so overpriced. I need to warm up the reloading press.

On Monday, I had occasion to walk into the North Olmsted Walmart. Passed by the sporting goods, crossing fingers for some .22 Mag. NO JOY! But they did have eight 100-rd boxes of CCI MiniMag @ $7.98 each.
I have multiple thousands of .22 LR so I left it for someone else. [ Lots of empty shelf space for sale otherwise.
Looks like the .22's will get some more use & let the 648 rest.

Little gun shop about an hour from the house yesterday. Limit of three boxes of each flavor. 30.06@$14.25, 6.5 carcano@$16.25, 223 match@$11.95, 10mm@$16.75, 357mag@$18.95, 209 primers @$2.95 sleeve, 44mag@$21. I could keep going but you get the idea.

some at high some at vey high $

Local LGS is hit or miss...only self defense stuff at $28.99 for 20 rds (Speer Gold Dot .45 or 9mm); CCI Velocitor at $9.99 box of 50 (22LR)...there was a small shelf (but real sturdy) that had 1000 rd bulk 9mm (I think Federal) at $499.99..but they blew out the door within an hour of opening as I understand it from son who went early. Real big lines of guys/gals always standing by the shelves for 5.62/223 where the clerk hands out one box at a time from a pallett....don't know the price cause I don't use that caliber.

I'm not chasing any as I'm still working with stash from years ago and still glad I commandeered a whole closet in one of the spare bedrooms years ago when the youngest left home.

Only regret on my part is that I never found the time during late career (I only retired last year) to get into reloading. Now I've for sure got the time but equipment and components are unavailable too.....so.....shoot the stash...just not as much, or as frequent as pre-Covid.

I got a flyer this past week from Wideners... it had this 'DEAL' in it:

product's image
Winchester USA 22 LR 36 Grain CPHP – 525 Rounds
$154.85

I decided to pass until it comes back down to $14.99

If you know when what day the delivery trucks comes and get stand in line every morning you can sometimes find it.

Some of the inter-web ammo sights have it at premium prices.

I just went to SG Ammo and they have WWB 9mm 100 round boxes for $79.95 per box. I almost had a heart attack! Before Walmart quit selling them they were $19.95 per box.

Here in Central Florida is no different than anywhere else - there is some on the shelves, and it moves fast at ridiculous prices. I can also find it online but you really have to tighten your girdle when you see what the going rate is.

Recently, I finally found .380acp at $1.20/round online for factory-made (Aguila) at OutdoorLimited.com. That is the first place I've seen ANY .380 actually in stock and ANY for less than $2+/round for months and months. I've given up shooting my S&W 380EZ completely because the ammo is more rare than hen's teeth. I had to break down and buy some just to keep my magazines loaded, as I had none in my stash.

Dunhams was selling the Winchester value packs for 39.99 until ~3-4 weeks ago. As of about two weeks ago they raised their price to $45.99, which is still a lot, but not as much as online. It shows how retail prices are rising toward the online price now.

$19 for a box of 357?!?

My LGS has them for $90 a box.

First I've seen in about 6 months.
