LGS has a 6" 28-2 in on consignment. I don't know what these are worth now days.

This one has the box, the adjustment tool, cleaning rod and a well soiled swab. It had goodyears on it but has wood stocks in the box that fit. The stocks show some wear but the gun is near ANIB. I doubt the wood stocks are the original. Maybe, I guess, if they were used on another gun for awhile. Unfortunately they aren't target stocks.

The finish looks so pristine on the gun that at first look I assumed it was refinished but closer examination shows no sign of a refinish. I assume it was fired due to the soiled swab but if not for that you could tell me it was unfired and I'd probably believe you. It has a very light turn line that could easily be from being handled a bit.

I know these used to be cheap but have appreciated a good deal. The asking price is $850. Is that priced correctly???

Thanks for looking. I'll try to post the few pics I took:

I'd buy it in a heartbeat. The highway patrolman is getting very hard to find in that condition. I have the same but an earlier serial number.

Five or six years ago you could buy all of them you wanted for $500 each or less. Not any more. I might offer less and see what happens; sometimes a call to the consignee will get a better price; especially if you're standing at the store with cash in hand. I also think those are probably the original stocks; it would not have come with target stocks for sure. Good luck.

I think Target stocks were an option, so I don’t think you can say for sure that it didn’t come with targets....

It's an excellent price in today's market.

Shooter grade guns are in the 750-900 dollar range now, with like new specimens being priced at 1000 or more. The grips are correct to the gun per box label. They could be ordered with target grips, but your box doesn't specify those.

You should go back and get it before someone else does. They don't make them like that anymore.

Those Magna stocks look correct for that revolver, I'd say that is actually an all-original Model 28-2. Given it's appearance and it has it's original box, in today's market, $850 is reasonable. If you can get it for any less, consider yourself to be the big winner.

In the current market that is a fair price; especially with the box and possibly original factory installed grips. I purchased my Model 28 seventeen years ago and paid $450 (without the box). In 2004 prices went between $400 - $500 for the M28, but much has changed. If you haven't, and if it hasn't already sold I would buy it.

I just bought as nice a 4 inch No box and had rubber grips not originals was 800 so yes I would say.

Excellent price, very nice gun

I just sold a few weeks ago, the 1975 shipped M28-2 shown below to another Forum Member for $750 shipped and insured. No box or accessories, but did have a Letter that went with it.

Great guns, very good shooters, my wrist can't handle magnums anymore so decided to unload my Model 27's (2), Model 29-2, and the Model 28-2. All went to Forum Members.

Only a nickel 27-2 left.

Run...don't walk and get that guy while it's still there!

That's good advice...This morning I found a nice looking 4" 28-2 with beautifully figured Goncalo Alves targets for $757...I'm waiting for the store to open, and I already have two 28-2's plus a 28 no dash...I know, I'm greedy...:o...Ben

The box has "S" meaning "Standard" for Stock, which at that time would have been Magnas. So if the serial number on the box matches the serial number on the gun, there you go.

It's sitting on my table. I just haven't had the time to mess with it yet. It's still in the store bag. They wouldn't budge on the price.

It's a sellers market right now, but good job anyway. I'm currently working on a 3rd Generation Model 5944 pistol. I've already adjusted myself for financial pain, but I want it and I can afford it. It's just how things are right now.

There's an interesting dichotomy on this forum.

On the one hand, you have members who take the stance that they have never overpaid for anything in their lives, and they are not going to start now. "He wants $50 more than I think it's worth so I will keep looking."

The other side acknowledges that there is a cost associated with NOT buying. To keep looking requires additional investments in time, shoe leather, gasoline, etc. Not to mention that the clock is ticking ... many of us do not want to forgo potentially years of the pleasure of ownership of the desired item.

I'm in the second camp, but I can't say that either is wrong. :o
