If you have a long enough bit, drill into the battery with a bit just smaller than the battery diameter. You may break it free or be left with just a shell and might be able to use a long screwdriver and a pick to pull out the pieces. I did this once. I guess you could drill into the battery and run a screw into it and try and pull it out.

Rather than banging on the table, use a rubber mallet. Hold flashlight with open front end down, whack flashlight butt with rubber mallet.

Rubber mallets are really useful. Cheap, too.

A man after my own heart. 1st solution to every problem is wack it with a hammer . Not so sure about that rubber stuff though.

I'm another one that will not buy Duracells.

Same for me here...

I've had similar experiences with "D" battery manufacturer and have since moved to "E" producer without any issues to-date.

Perhaps I'll take the hit someday. I currently use between 130 and 260 AA batteries annually, depending. I use Duracell with no issues going on since Oct 2022. these are all outdoors in trail cameras. Currently have 17 active cameras with 2 in reserve.

Baking soda is Alkaline so putting it in a corroded Alkaline battery compartment does nothing. Yes, it works on car battery terminals but those are acidic.

Call Duracell and send a picture they will reimburse you the price of the flashlight

Had a similar thing happen to me. Managed to get the stuck item out, but don't recall how. I was able to get both head and tail cap off. Removal may have involved a steel bar, hammer and hardwood block.

I get most my batteries off eBay or at Dollar Tree, usually off brands. Don’t remember having any corrosion problems. Not long ago, I bought a 24-pack box of generic AAA alkaline batteries from eBay. They sent me two boxes. Should last me for a long time. I figure that all batteries probably come from the same Chinese factory no matter what brand is stamped on them.

I use a lot of AAA & AA batteries from Harbor Freight........Cheap enough to replace easily.....Run "em" in my trail cameras and flashlights....................CR123's I usually order off the internet.........I run those in my night vision stuff.

We had a thread here years ago where most posters all chimed in and agreed completely that Duracell is AWFUL. I remember that discussion and nodded my head because I knew every leaking trashed alkaline I’d had was damn Duracell.

Exactly this. Amazon had a whopper of a sale on decent electronic ear pro years back and I ordered a bunch of them and each set came with a shrink wrapped pair of Duracell and each *free* Duracell got tossed.

They’re worse than junk. If something is junk, it usually doesn’t perform well. But Duracell wrecks the device you use them in.
