New cellphone rant.

Remember, we're all beta testers when it comes to technology. No matter what the manufacturers say. That they won't admit it probably accounts for 90% of the aggravation.

outta-ammo:

Of course you know how to change a tire, you are 67 years-old. You are not 27 with a man-bun sitting on the side of the road calling your father or grandfather to come change his tire and please hurry because he forgot his phone charger and the battery is dying.

I'll frequently put my Galaxy S7 into airplane mode when I don't want to be disturbed. The trick is to remember to turn it back to regular mode. FWIW, my ringtone is the one used for Derek Flint's hot line in the two movies. I've had old coots bust out laughing when it goes off.

My late brother had that set as his boss' ringtone:

Update

Update
I felt that an update, was, in order.

All my son’s records were lost, and he has to start from scratch, and reprogram, from memory, his new, Smart? / Dumb? Phone.

I’ve decided that mine might be useful to call 911, but can it be trusted to work successfully?

It will take and store, pictures, but since I’ve been struck with ‘dumbassity’, I probably won't be capable of using that feature.

Bluetooth, and Garmin, are no longer used, so, The whole shebang won't be of much use to me in the future.

Much to everybody's relief, I won't beat this dead horse again.

A Jitterbug to me is probably not the same image that pops up in your mind.

A jitterbug is a top water bass lure to me, that can make a lot of racket during the retrieve and fool a big ole bass into jumping slap out of the water when it strikes at the lure.

Some of the Certified Ole Geezers on this forum (like me) will know of what I speak.

Have a blessed day,

Leon

As an aside, I actually do know how to change a tire but at my stage in life would probably use my phone to call someone to do it for me.

I also know how to change a tire, but they seem to tighten the lug nuts tighter than they used to. And, I have noticed the tires and wheels are much heavier these days. Could it be that gravity is stronger than it used to be? Everything seems to take more effort, more money (lots more), and tools and appliances have a useful life of 3 years or less, while costing 3 times as much.

Unfortunately, I think most of my troubles are inherent to the new title that I have claimed. I am officially a Certified OLD Geezer, with emphasis on the OLD part, whether I want to admit it or not. We, (all of us OLD Geezers) whether male or female, still like to talk and think of the days when we were young and strong and had almost no limitations on what we could do. But age has applied those limitations that we would, or could not when we were young, and only left us with active minds and precious memories. At some point in time, age will apply the ultimate limitation when this body and mind cease to exist in this state, and we move on to the final state of eternal Spiritual existence. Whether good or bad is our/your choice.

Sorry for the long winded reply.

You guys should walk away from AT & T or any of the other big names, T-Mobil, Sprint, Verizon etc. I use Consumer Cellular,My wife and I got Motorola phones, easy to use and C.C. is much less expensive.
I hate gadgets whether phones, TV, and the new cars. I don't listen to the radio, I'm tired of listening to my MP3 player and I still use maps.
I do like electric windows, mirrors, electric seats, auto wipers, comfort control.
Same here ! Ive been on Consumer Cellular around 12 years, also with a Motorola phone. Best phone service IMO

You are in luck there, ALL cellphones, whether they have a SIM card or not, will allow you to use 911, it's to allow old phones that are given to folks that are poor or at risk to use donated phones without having to have an account with a carrier.......

I'm nearing another decade milestone, and having made a career out of technology, I couldn't give a darn how these new fangled things work, and don't want to know frankly. We are lucky here in the Seattle area to have many "stores" for Verizon, ATT, T-Mobile and other carriers via WalMart, and if I can't roust up a grandkid or two to assist, I'll just go to a store and have one of the younger smart kids fix things.....

Hope you get things working, otherwise how are you going to find out what's happening in Kazzzzstanistan at the moment.... :)

Enjoy.

Being old myself but not ready to claim the distinction of being a geezer or curmudgeon I try to follow this: [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yc5AWImplfE[/ame]

An irresistible update.

I feel a need to defend myself, as some of my cyber friends, have, chaffed me with their rightful comments.

In these days of planned obsolescence, a fact that our most talented Technicians, and Teachers can’t comprehend, is the fact, that not everybody shares, or understands their talent. They also feel the need to chastise, less talented, and repeat offenders, of their ideals. I meant no harm in flaunting my ignorance, and will try to do better.

Even sadder, Most of those highly talented folks have no idea, of how to convey their superior knowledge to others. That's an extremely regrettable flaw, that confronts our schools today.

Two of our historical, notable, scholars, and teachers that understood, and spoke about this malady, were Albert Enstine, and Ben Franklin. They are both sorely missed.

Back in the 1980s I was taking computer science courses at the community college. One of the courses was Systems Analysis, and to this day I remember the premise that when designing any kind of system the input of those person who will be using the system needs to be sought and considered.
