The Kurt Jaeger firm of Germany (Mainz) engraved many nice guns in the post WWII period. Here is an example of a 6-1/2" 357 Magnum featuring a two tone Blue / French Grey finish and extensive gold inlay. The engraving is in a traditional Black Leaf style. The walnut stocks were also custom made and carved to match. The revolver resides in a custom fitted Huey case. Jaeger engraved guns come up for sale occasionally and are a joy to behold. Enjoy the photos.

Beautiful gun!
I like the grips also. They have a unique look to them.

I live pretty close to Jenkintown Pa where I believe his brother had his shop. Locally Jaegars work comes up time to time.

Yes, Kurt Jeager's brother Paul had his business in Jenkintown. Paul Jaeger offered custom rifles and engraving through Kurt's business in Germany. Below are a few pages from a re-print of Paul Jaeger's 1963 catalog.

Hi Richard,

Here are a few more photos for you. -Karl-

Thank you very much for the additional photos. I think that is the first Jaeger gun that I have seen with the Jaeger Mainz on the butt of the grip frame. Very cool.

How great it would be to be able to send a couple of guns back through time to the door of Jaeger's shop. I immediately think of a Baby Chiefs special that would benefit from that treatment, as well as a little pre-War Marlin OU in 410 ga that would be so cool!

Hi Richard,
The inlay is flat and detailed. It is not raised, although the detailing looks quite realistic. I appreciate your nice comments.

Be very careful before you have a gun engraved with portraits of the owner, his dog, or his favorite game. I have seen a lot of good scroll work spoiled by poor pictures. That is a good pronghorn but I think his leg articulation has been fudged to fit the space.

I do agree with you on this issue...

...That is a good pronghorn but I think his leg articulation has been fudged to fit the space.

I take a slight exception on this comment as I think the legs are about right for a pronghorn antelope in fast flight. The faster they run the more all 4 legs are retracted next to their body... here's a fairly close photo example...

As a retired Biology instructor I never expected to see a discussion on anatomy on the S&W Forum! One never knows what to expect here. ;)
