My new M60

two-bit cowboy, I was posting in response to a picture showing a tiny pin at the bottom of the frame opening, under the barrel end of the frame, and covered when the yoke is closed. Not about a pinned barrel. But now that picture and post seem to be gone.

Has someone explained what this is?

Several of my S&W revolvers have that weird little peen mark there for some reason.


Does not seem to serve any purpose, maybe a jig mark of some sort??

I checked and I see it on other guns as well (not just Model 60), and it looks like a mark made by a punch on mine. Good guess on jig mark.
