Need help picking next revolver

I'm surprised no one mentioned the Charter Arms Pathfinder. 8-shot, DA/SA, proven design, accurate with most .22's. J-frame size. I have an older one (6-shot 3" late 80's model that has more than a 1,000 rounds through it), and it never fails to hit the rollers and pop bottles I scatter on the range.

I also have a 617-6, and a pre-K .22 Masterpiece, and four Ruger SA's, two Wranglers and a Single-six and Single-ten. I like them all, but the Charter follows me to any range day.

After reading your first post, i think youre going to end up with a safe full of guns.

You didn't specify blue or SS. I badly wanted a S&W 617 10 shot, but couldn't afford the price. Then, I located a Ruger 10 shot GP100. It is SS.

Awesome revolver. Maybe not as fine tuned as a Smith, but I couldn't be happier.

It's maybe only a tad less accurate as my 2 classic Smith 17s.

Well I have a pretty small safe, but it does have 5 setting in there. 92fs in 9mm, (my first gun 20 years ago now) a Ppq in 9mm, a new Ppq in .22lr, a Dan Wesson .357 snub nose, and my 38 special 637 Smith.

Not sure what the MIM is, but I will look it up. Is the look and pre lock just a personal preference based on appearance? I don't remember now, but I know the lock on my 38 special never bothered me.

Metal Injection Molded Hammer and Trigger vs the older forged hammer and trigger. Just call me stuck in my ways.

pre-lock preference because the lock has no value to me and is just one more thing that can go wrong.

I wouldn't buy a K-frame Smith .22 without shooting it first, especially a used one. A lot of the used ones on the market are there because of difficult extraction issues. I finally found a K-22 without any issues, but four others ranged from annoying to nearly impossible.

I've had a few with sticky cylinders. A Clymer .22 LR revolver finishing reamer fixed them for me. It's an easy do it yourself job.

I smiled as I saw the Model 63 on your list and I don't believe you will regret making that your choice. The Model 63 became such a pleasure and favorite of mine that I was compelled to get a Model 60 in .357 because, you know, if you give a mouse a cookie...

Those model 48's that have both 22lr and 22 mag cylinders look interesting. Honestly if I could find a DW with a short barrel I would probably get it. I have seen a few 6" and 8" barrels for sale, so if I could find a short one I would probably get it with a few barrels.

You said you like the 351 c except it is a 22mag. How about the 43c same gun but in 22lr only.

Only one I saw was double action only no hammer. Definitely don't want a double action only. Thanks for mentioning it though. If it was sa/da I would probably just get it.

Ruger SP101

Might consider the Ruger SP101.

MSRP is $919, but I've seen them for as little as $650.

4-inch barrel, adjustable sights, 8 shots, double/single action.

I picked up a made in 2005 617-5 in January and it was the gun I have shot the most this year by far. Has the lock and MIM but I could really care less by the way it shoots. I would get rid of my pre lock , pre MIM 617-1 way before this one.

I just found what would probably be the perfect one for me. It is going to be above my price range though.

Dan Wesson Model 22 Pistol Pac .22 LR Blue 8" *ULTRA RARE PISTOL PACK*
currently on gunbroker auction not buy it now. 5+ days left and is over $1500 currently :(

Did the Model 18 ever come with a 10 rd cylinder? I know the 617 does and there are some of the 17's that do.

If you aren't completely stuck on it holding more than 6 rounds maybe an older S&W Model 43 Kit Gun.
Aluminum frame & cylinder, so feather light, J-frame, most of them are square-butt.
