Any CZ fans here?

Is CZ even importing guns into the US any more?
I know people who have been trying to get rifles and pistols for over a year unsuccessfully.
The virus has decimated the Italian gun manufacturing workforce. Is it the same thing with the workers in the Czech Republic?

Yes, I see new ones around my neck of the woods. I don’t think the Czech Republic went down the same CV19 rabbit hole that Italy did...

The pistol display case at Palmetto State Armory in Greenville SC had a variety of higher end CZs. The Shadow 2 was calling my name really loudly.

I have a CZ 83 (380 ACP) that I really like.

I also have a CZ 75 SP-01 that I just purchased a few weeks ago, and haven't had time to snap any photos. I think I'm really going to like the new one as well.

Mine is an '87 production pre-B. Commie level quality finish on the interior with the epoxy coating on the exterior. Purchased at the rod and gun club in Garmisch in '88. No import stamp. Amazing shooter and my go to 9x19mm EDC. Never an issue with reliability and dead nuts accurate.

I've got a clone (EEA Witness, 10mm) and love it. My first experience with the CZ design and seriously looking at getting a Shadow 2.

How has your experience with this been? I do own CZs, a 97b, a P01 Omega and just bought a 457 with the fanciest wood stock youve ever seen but these have always piqued my interest too. Though with prices what they are now I may be just as well buying another CZ. I remember when these were very appealing pricewise though.

I have experience in that…
I have not gotten familiar with any of the full production Tanfoglio guns but a metric ton of them have pulled military and police duty all over the workd and most notably in Isreal. Back around 2008, I bought a Witness Elite Match in 9mm and it was been just a phenomenal handgun for me.

This model was the lowest model in their Elite line. Custom isn’t the proper word but all of the Elite line was in a different class than the full production guns. The Elite Match is a single action gun and the trigger is fantastic for a gun at this price point. MSRP back then was something near $665, I had it in my hands for about $575.

I don’t believe that EAA is still the designated importer. MSRP is approaching $800 these days.

A couple years after I got it, I added another almost exactly the same except in .45 Auto. It too is a great handgun. Not sure offhand how many I have through the .45 but my round count with the 9mm is over 6,000 and a huge share of that has been 125gr lead round nose. 100% of it’s diet since day one has been handloads, literally never had a malfunction of any manner.

I’m absolutely a fan. I’ve toyed with the idea of a Witness Elite Hunter but have not followed through.

I bought a CZ75 (pre-B) about 30 years ago and had it milled for Bomar sights and converted to SA. I shot it in USPSA for several years and sold it three years ago. They’re excellent, feel good in the hand, good balance, accurate and very reliable. I don’t believe I ever had a failure.

Last year I traded another gun for a CZ457 22LR training rifle. Not only is it a beautiful gun it’s very well made and the action is very smooth. Accuracy is outstanding as well. I believe CZ has discontinued this model too.

I like CZ rifles, I have a 452 Trainer that is probably the most accurate .22 rifle I have ever owned. With the Tangient iron sights I can hit with it out to 200 yards. This pic was five shots on a steel rabbit, shot from the prone position at 100 yards:

Also have a 527 Carbine in 7.62 X 39 caliber, a handy little rifle. Can't believe CZ has discontinued this model:

I have since replaced the wooden stock with a CZ polymer stock, better for rough use, I'll save the wooden stock for special occasions:

A CZ 75B is also in the house:

CZ makes some nice stuff, but it puzzles me that they discontinue wildly popular guns like their full stock, Mannlicher style carbines like the 527..

I have three

A 1975 CZ 75, short rail, number 01056, one of 54 produced in 1975 (plus 5 prototypes). I understand those were pre-production examples, as the real production only started in 1977 (and only 18 were produced in 1976).

I have actually been looking for a CZ 97 for some time now

Was looking over my 75b and the paperwork. It was made in 1996 with night sights and shows the CZ Kansas City roll mark. I purchased it NIB from the old Burns Brothers in NY, $321.04 shipped with one 15 and one 10rd magazine.

IIRC they were advertising in SGN at the time as over runs for a Turkish military contract. The night sights still glow though not as bright nor for as long as they once did.

Only thing I’ve done to it was to swap the plastic grip panels for a set of synthetic Uncle Mike panels. A little thinner and better checkering/texture.

No idea if the “over run” is accurate or not but for the money at that time it was one of the better purchases I’ve managed. Just a great firearm.

Yes, if you're referring to Colt and Dan Wesson. :D

I recently picked up a CZ Parrot. Well made and aptly named, but not my cup o tea. Flipped it...

Have a 75B, and a nice compact SP01 9mm, but the trigger on the compact was painful for me, so had Cajun put in one of their earlier triggers, so much more comfortable to shoot now. Very accurate, but a bit big and heavy for a carry for me. Plus a 550 Mannlicher stock, set trigger, Leupold, in 308. My only stolen firearm was a big SP01 Shadow several years ago, construction worker snuck back into my home and took it, has never turned up. I think CZ made and makes really tuff serviceable and often specialty firearms, a great value for the dollar.

I have big hands, so many of their full sized pistols are very comfortable for me. SF VET

75 D Compact PCR and 75 B Omega

Both excellent handguns that I picked up a couple of months apart in 2019. Lots of fun at the range, and the PCR carries quite well for me.
