Good morning to all,
About 20 years ago I imported this revolver out of Germany, the story is that it was part of a 50 run for the Hamburg Polizei for their undercover units, it is a model 19-3 3" barrel with fixed sights.
Have not gotten the time or so to get a letter so that will happen one day.
Serial number is D63979X, proofmarks are German for 1974.
It also has an X out property marking for the Hamburg Polizei.
The stag grips are mine, one good day when I was cleaning it my boxer thought that grips are nice chewtoys with the expected result.
so that is my fault not the dog.
see attached pictures of the Gun, it is not for sale just wanted to share it, like the GIGN revolver this could be pretty rare, paid almost nothing for it in Germany way back then.

Just wanted to share and looking for comments, I apologize for the large pictures.

Welcome (to posting!) :).

Many of these 3" fixed sight model 19s were used by the French, either law enforcement or military. Rare overall and even more rarely seen here in the US. Enjoy!

I sure will Sir, this is def German , has German proof marks and the property mark of the Hamburg Polizei that was x-out as they always do when they decommission a Police gun.
Found it on E-Gun in Germany years ago, then imported it.

Wonder how many S&W could have sold if they had cataloged such a variation?

As many as they could make!

I'd have bought at least two in the 1970s-80s...... and I know my Dad would have wanted one!!! :)

It's the blue NL version of the Model 65 Ladysmith.... another gun that would have sold in big numbers but for the "Ladysmith" engraving.

dolvo; with the stag grips check out BK Grips they make a nice T-grip adaptor for about $35 delivered.

There is a recent thread on the similar fixed sight 19-P. Interesting revolvers. Great configuration.

Very interesting. That is definitely an Ulm '74 proof mark.
Was there another run for the Germans that we may not have been aware of? My understanding (was) that there were 490 made for Germany in 1972 (D521815-D522304) and then 200 for France in 1973 (in the D639xxx's).
Does it have a trigger stop (or the empty slot for one)? The German ones I have documented had the trigger stop where the French ones didn't even have the slot for one.

As far as I know, not undercover, but SEK (the German equivalent of SWAT).

Hamburg, 1974:

^^^^^

I'm presuming that story did not end well for the bad guy?

Nope. I can't find the link to the news footage right now, I'll add it if I do.

The guy had already killed a cop and was holding hostages in the bank. The police decided the layout of the bank didn't permit a safe entry, nor a sniper because the perp always surrounded himself with a tight group of hostages.

So they decided on a close contact shot when he came out to get into the getaway car he had demanded. The perp died, the hostage he held in front of him was slightly wounded, no other casualties.

Excellent work, considering the team had just been formed a few years before after the 1972 Munich Olympic disaster.

that gun was on my table in Tulsa this weekend, stag grips
I have requested the letter and what I understand from a friend that used to be a German Cop, I was a Dutch cop that they ordered 50 of them just for Hamburg, I bought this one on E=Gun and had it imported
