A 10mm magnum Match champ. **RANGE UPDATE**

Dang you guys got me wondering. Can you resize the 41 mag brass to 10mm, and use it in the 10mm pistol without the moon clips and it eject?

I laid my hands on one of those Match Champions a few years back and they also had a Blackhawk in 10mm. Seriously considered grabbing one, but for some reason I didn't pull the trigger. I bet the prices have gone up now.

First round of testing is in...

I went off Tafitins writings and started at 18gr of 2400, with a 12 shot average 1380fps in 80* weather out of the 4 inch GP100 match champ runing xtream 200gr FPs

Surprisingly accurate, shooting way high(sights need to be adjusted) but all within a 3in group at 15yds
My opinion is frigging WOW, what a cannon! I think some magnaporting may be in order....

Anyway that's all I have for now, next up will be H110 loadings :D

Edit add, I neglected to mention that the cases fell out of the cylinder so I think that's a great sign.

You should try longshot. It does really well with heavy 10mm.

How'd this compare with your 10mm Mag results with your 3" GP100?

Hickok45 has said that, for him, a 4" 629/29 is a 44 special with 44 mag capability, and a 3" is really 44 special only. In your experience, did you conclude similarly that the 3" should be 10mm Auto only whereas you can handle shooting some (though maybe not all day) 10mm Mag in the 4" Match Champion?

I wonder if Ruger made the 10mm GP100 in a 6" barrel. I know they had the blued, half-lug 5" for a while.

I have never been able to get through more than 10 Minutes of a Hickok reaction video.

The man is a good shooter, but the two or three reactions that I watched he was getting many of the facts wrong and he never gets to the point. In one reaction to a Smith & Wesson revolver, he did not even know what revolver he had. You would think that he would ask the Factory the name of what he was talking about.

I met him and his son in person at a couple of events that the NSSF put on. The two of them are Big folks, I am 6'4" and they are both noticeably taller. My problem with meeting him is that he talks the same way as on camera

The 29/329/629 family of revolvers are 44 Magnums.

All of my 310/610 revolvers have had their cylinders lengthened for 10MM Magnum, it does not matter what the barrel length is.

This revolver is a 10MM Magnum I would never dream of restricting it to just 10MM Auto or 40 S&W.

When, if ever, do you shoot 10mm or 40 in your Night Guard? If for a reason other than cost and convenience of ammo availability, why not shoot 10mm Magnum alone?

Can't say I've shot a .44 in a snub, this certainly bucks harder than my 6.5in power port .44mag. An certainly more snippy than my brothers super Alaska 2.5 .454casull

IMO the 10 mag belongs in something a bit longer, the 5inch gun would like yield better results of course. The 4inch runs about 100fps faster FPS than the 3 inch...

This is the perfect bear/hiking revolver(i would still take my .44 or my 1026 over this)tho follow up shots would be difficult, this thing really cracks.

IN MY OPINION my 3inch GP100 will remain 10mm Auto, the decision is up to you... I only fired 6 out of the one I had previously, I got hard up for some dollars so it made the list to sell.

Don't think I would fire more than 50 rounds threw this thing at the range, it's a cannon.

So no magnum cartridge should be offered in a 4" bbl or shorter?

That's such a silly thing for him to say. I quit watching him years ago.

The 10AUTO only needs a L-frame sized revolver to be handled comfortably, but S&W hasn't seen fit to do that yet.

The 10MAG is far better suited in a N-frame size like the 610 which comes in 4" or 6".

Several times at the indoor range, with my 610 10MAG, I had people come & ask me if I was shooting a 44MAG. :p

.

I quit shooting 10AUTO in my 610 once I converted it to 10MAG.

Guess I need to shoot some 10AUTOs in a chrono test against some 10MAGs using the 610, just to put some numbers on it.

Nah, that ain't what he said.

Assuming that your question wasn't rhetorical, and presuming that I could answer on his behalf, I would speculate that his response would be something to the effect of "No, that's not at all what I am saying. To reiterate, for me, snub-nosed 44s only see 44 special, though, for some folks, for some applications, there are occasions where snub-nosed 44 mags have utility."

Generally agree, 10mm mag loads (especially the hot ones that OP is loading that surpass a lot of factory 44 mag offerings) are extremely snappy in a 4" GP100 or L frame. Even the full underlug 4" 686 converted to 10mm/10mm mag is sub-40 oz. Though, I would argue that a 10mm mag 6" L Frame would tame the recoil just enough to allow the round to shine in an L Frame.

Love my 610 in 10mm mag, but if 10mm mag is going to have a real advantage, it's the ability to chamber in an L frame with performance exceeding 357 but south of 44 magnum.

Doooo eeeeeet.

21GR of H110 didn't do how I thought it would.

1281 FPS 12 shot average pushing 200 grn pills, no crazy fire ball and about a 10 inch group on steel...

Looks like 2400 is my winner so far...

Next up Blue dot.

How'd the Blue Dot work out?

Not to hijack, but I have an Automag in 10mm mag. I can't find ammo anywhere. Where did you get your brass?
