Just finished watching Electra Glide in Blue. I saw it in the theater way back in the day. Now before we get to deep I know it's Robert Blake, who 50 years later flipped out and killed his wife. But it's a great movie IMO that still holds up. Shovel head Harleys in great AZ desert scenes, and Colt Python duty revolvers, what's not to like right there.

It came out in 1973, fours years after Easy Rider, another classic MC movie, and as I watched it I couldn't help be see the similarities, and of course the ending, both with a shotgun.

So deep thoughts on a Saturday evening. Two classic MC movies from two sides of the culture coin of the time.

That aside great watch if only for old motorcycles and revolvers IMO.

I like the scene where's he made detective (I think it was), and he gets all dressed up, fancy boots and all, and walks out on his porch.... only to realize he's forgotten his pants.

The Wild One. Brando. "So, whatta ya do for kicks around here? Make sandwiches or somthin'?"

And the one where he stepped in pig poop with those same fancy boots. :)

Blake didn't just carry a Python, he carried a Pinto Python!

It's a bizarre movie, but I enjoyed it. I rank it right up there with Easy Rider, Pulp Fiction, Get Shorty, Be Cool and Fargo.

Driver: "Taking a trip?"
Bronson: "What's that?"
Driver: "Taking a trip?"
Bronson: "Yeah."
Driver: "Where to?"
Bronson: "Oh, I don't know. Wherever I end up, I guess."
Driver: "Man, I wish I was you."
Bronson: "Really?"
Driver: "Yeah."
Bronson: "Well, hang in there."

Not a move, but this show had a tremendous impression on me as a lad. Note the Eye of Providence on the tank.

"Beyond the Law". Charlie Sheen as an under cover cop who infiltrates a MC club.

And of course "Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man". It's a classic.

This is the show that first got me really interested in motorcycles as a teenager. It's lasted over 50 years so far.

Dust to Glory, by Dana Brown, son of Bruce Brown, who made On Any Sunday., about the Baja race. Beyond excellent.

The Wild One. The truly wild one was Lee Marvin's Chino. "Hey Johnny, call my mama and tell her I'm in jail".

Hells Angels on wheels. "The called him wobbly cause he could hardly walk, but he would ride his chopper through the gates of Hell".

Cycles South. On any Sunday meets Easy Rider. Three amigos set out from Colorado for Mexico on BSA 441 singles, having many adventures on the way, spear fishing, skiing, impromptu racing, Dirt biking on acid with stoned out hippie chicks, lewd encounters with Mexican gals ("Muy bueno"), narrow scrapes with the narrow-gauge railroad, you name it.

I am good friends with and used to ride with the Writer, Producer, Director and main actor in his own move that was released about 4 years ago. It is called American Dresser. Although Carmine is great friend I will admit that the movie is not a block buster or academy award winning movie - but still worth watching if you're in biking or a Vietnam Vet. The stars in it are, Carmine Cangialosi (my friend) Tom Berringer, Kieth David, Bruce Dern, Gina Gershon, Penelope Ann Miller, Jeff Fayhe, etc. BTW, all the motorcycles in the movie belong to Carmine. I've ridden all of them as well.

I sold my last Bike in September - a 2008 Ultra Classic. I have been riding since I was 14, and rode about 80,000 miles all over the USA. Never had an accident, never went down and at almost 69 years old I wanted to end my riding career on a high note! :) And that I have done.

I will check it out; but of course, I would watch anything with Gina Gershon!

Sounds like you had a good run. Nothing wrong with walking away when your ahead.

Mine is a 2008 Electric Glide Classic, with a quick disconnect kit to easily remove the rear trunk, that I bought new. This is nice as as I ride it mostly without the tour pack making it a little more sporty :) I only use the the tour pack when going on a longer road trip. Basic bike but perfect for me and will be my last as I am 64.

My first ride was a 47 Indian. What a hateful machine...on cold starts. After I sold it never went back to big bikes. Did have a good looking 650 Yamaha. Wife and I went everywhere on that thing...except no yard sales. My wife had and liked an old Honda 165 scrambler. It was easy for her to ride. But we lived in farm country. Not much traffic. Riding one day...we got surrounded by a black motorcycle group(Thunderguards). We got invited to a cookout get together when stopped at a light( I knew a couple fellows). it was enlightening. They had a bad rep...but they were nice to us. LOUD bikes though!!

The first several minutes of "Lawrence of Arabia".
Lawrences 1935 Brough Superior SS100 motorcycle needs a good music system to do it justice.

Rick

Easy Rider gets lumped in with MC movies, but it was billed as a hippie movie with motorcycles. Being a child of the late '70's - early 80's, I tried to watch Easy Rider once and just didn't get the attraction.

I thought Wild Hogs was a great MC movie. Would have been even better if they'd left out all the scenes with the friendly MC cop.
