Anybody hungry?

Summertime and fresh vegetables make for two of my favorite meals.
The BLT with fresh 'maters and thick sliced bacon.

Secondly- bacon, tomatoes, cucumber, fresh peas or beans, and skillet baked cornbread.

With elevated cholesterol, I limit my bacon consumption; but summertime and the tomato season deliver me from abnegation. ;) :D

Neither are fancy, just good eating.

What are some of your summertime favorites?

A Southern Country Sunday Dinner.
Fried Okra. Purple Hull Peas. Sliced Maters. Smashed Taters.
All vegetables fresh out of the garden.
Oh, corn bread somewhere on the table.
Beef roast almost got lost amongst the veggies.

BLT's...............

you bet cha.

My wife cooked them up just the other night for a meal, that we have not had in a while.

Nothing like a hunk of thick bacon, a good ripe tomato and a big dab of Good Mayo all over it.

She likes to toast the bread just a wee bit, which is ok if she does not get carried away, browning it.

Summertime is homemade mango Italian ices.

As it's Summertime all year long in Florida, fruit ices are a food group along with slightly over ripe frozen bananas run thru the old Champion juicer. Comes out like Carvel.
Add some blueberries, cashews or whatever you desire except fish.

Maybe this belongs in the Health and Fitness thread? ;)

No Apple trees here but pineapples grow well. Let them ripen, until they are ready to pick, and the core is soft and extra sweet.
I might add that the pineapple's tops are planted again and again.
Started with nine and a few years later had 50 growing.

Bacon and uncured fried Ham, are another miracle of the kitchen staff, on homemade Ciabatta bread :D
Spinach and Tomatoes makes it a BST.

I'm all about the bacon, guys 'n gals. However, since learning that NITRATES and NITRITES are fuel for cancer....I've switched to 'natural' cured products. Usually sugar, and celery salt are what allows for the preservation. Once you've tried a good natural-cured bacon, you may find it tougher to stomach the normal stuff again.

Oh, and if you happen to have an Arabic/Halal market of some kind near you, check out BEEF bacon. Oh yeah, in a league all of it's own!

I'm partial to Nueske's bacon. Kunzler is the best store brand I ever had, especially the thick cut.

I picked up 2 Certified Angus Beef NY boneless strips for dinner tonight. I'll enjoy a few IC Lights while grilling them.

Mrs. QD67 got some Hanover creamed spinach.

And I'll have a glass or 2 of Buffalo Trace after supper.

Life are good.
