I've been lusting for some time for a Model of 1950 Target in .44 Special, but affordable ones have eluded me...This past weekend two appeared on my radar on successive days...After some pleasant talk, and a little negotiation (read whining and pleading on my part) I suddenly own two of them...One dates 1954-55 and the other 1955-56, no boxes but really nice condition...

Then I noticed the guy with a table across from mine had a 4-screw 4" blued .44 Magnum (dates to 1957)...He no longer shoots, and his Dad carried this one as a sheriff's deputy...He said his Dad used it to win a shootout with two bad guys, and still had 4 rounds left in case they came back to life...He asked my advice on pricing...It still had the Pachmayrs his Dad used, so I asked about the original grips to which he dug out a pair of Cokes with a small chip out of one...

No box or anything else, and it was a solid gun with only some holster wear on the muzzle (no rust or discoloration under the Pachmayrs)...I told him if it was mine, I wouldn't have any problem putting $2500 on it and negotiating from there...On Sunday he still had it, and was motivated to sell...So after some more talk and wheedling, it was mine...

Pics below are as received and cleanup is underway......Ben

Great haul!
It looks like one 44 Spec is satin, and the other bright?
