Ill be taking it to the range tomorrow, I kind of want to put a red dot sight on it eventually so I was wonderin' what my options for drilling or tapping or if there is some other way to mount a dot on this?

Make sure it works first. My club had three and they were a constant headache. The takedown piece broke on all three and it took years to find replacements. Yes, years. I think they were made out of pot metal. Reliability was spotty, accuracy adequate. Of all the Smiths I've been associated with these were by far the worst. But they have a following. I don't understand it.

mine works fine, I put like 200 rounds or so through it and only got one failure to fire because I was shooting mostly federal automatch. I have no complaints about reliability and accuracy is pretty good so I dunno if you got lemons or are confusing this with another gun.

I also tend to run my guns wet so that may be a factor. the only issues I really had were the magazine spring being a bit tired and not locking back on empty but thats an ez fix.

Once upon a time a company, possibly "B Square", made a mount that replaced one grip panel.

AIM-Tech made the mount I mentioned above.
