2 Questions:

First:
I wonder how difficult it would be to rechamber/rebarrel a Ruger 44Mag Carbine to 41Mag?

I would assume rebarreling would be the easiest, but one does have to deal with the gas port.

Also finding a gunsmith with the knowledge to do it and the desire to do it may be difficult.

Second:
I wonder if the magazine could be continued out of the stock and under the barrel for more rounds?

If your referring to the old semi auto 44 carbine (deer stalker) you'd be ruining a pretty expensive gun. If your talking later 44 lever action that'd be different.

The existing barrel could be sleeved. The breach face should work, it might need a custom extractor fabricated.

With the proper application of cash almost anything can be done

How would converting it to .41 make it a better rifle?
It would then be a 41 Magnum

There are those of us that like to be different

There are those of us that just want what we want

There are those of us that want a long gun in the same chambering as our side arm

There are those of us that never cared for the 44 Magnum

There are those of us that understand the ballistic advantage at distance of the 41 Magnum projectiles over the 44 Magnum.

You got the money, somebody will claim they can do it.
A while back a guy told me that his Dot Com Millionaire Son bought a new Merlin Engine for his Mustang.
I say, was it a rebuild?
No, I was told it was a new one.
I normally don't ask folks how much stuff costs.
But this ain't normal.
Dad says it cost more than $500,000.

Anything is possible , with enough $$ .

I get it , I like .41 .

But unless you have gunsmithing skill and want a project to prove it can be done , it would be much more realistic to search out a Marlin .41 .

I thank all of you for your input!

I new it would be costly.

I had the 44 mag Ruger Deerstalker years ago and mostly liked it.
In the evening if I had the sun at my back I could shoot the rifle and see the reflection off the base of the bullet almost all the way to the target, kinda liked just going out to shoot and see the bullet flying away.

The only reason to go the the 41 mag is ballistics.
The conversion would kill the resale value of the rifle for almost everyone, the exception would be a 41 mag fan.

I talked with a local custom rifle builder he said it would be in the $1500 range and he said he could do it but would not do it.

I will not do a conversion due to the $$$$$ and the rifle in 44 mag has become a collectors piece. I do not mess with collector firearms.

I believe Henry makes their Big Boy lever gun in .41 magnum if you wish a companion to your revolver.

They do; The Big Boy Classic, 16.5" or 20" octagonal barrel, brass receiver, 8.68 lb.

Or, Big Boy Steel, 16.5" or 20" round barrel, end loader, blued finish, 7 lb..

I wanted a .41M with the side loader and octagonal barrel and case color receiver, but they don't make it that way, not even as a custom order.

A North American P-51 Mustang?

I can understand that.

There are those of us that want a long gun in the same chambering as our side arm

In this case it would be far better to change the side arm.

Any "ballistic advantage" is so slight that it hardly warrants the conversion........and the change you propose is monumental both in difficulty and expense.

But if you really "want what you want" bad enough......almost anything can be done with the right person and enough money.

:)

Getting what you want and accomplishing something really ain't the same thing.
You mostly try to accomplish things so you can get the stuff you want.
Or think you want.
Be careful what you wish for!
