I put a set of houge grips on my 3913 and I think it is a big improvement over the grey factory grips both in looks and feel in the hand. Very easy to install only about 10 minutes

That is exactly correct.
I've replaced all my S&W factory Hogue's and kept them BUT conversely I have Hogue's, ("rubber",) for most of mine that didn't originally come with them. I have both straight and curved Delrin's for the ones that had that option. Choices.
For me Hogue's on the "littles" are just too thick, too sticky. Again just my opinion, they are just not acceptable on the CS's. But I'm different in that I didn't like the grey grip on my NL. It's been changed out and put in the box just in case the next person wants to put it back on.
Yep choices are great when grips are involved.

On a single stack, they are great. On a double stack full size, they are very good, but a hair fatter than factory. On the double stack compact models like the 6906/6946, they are an abomination, since they aren't individual panels but are instead a wrap around type with fat finger grooves.
This is my exact experience, the grooves drives you finger up into the bottom of the trigger guard and it is uncomfortable. Ended up grinding down the grooves with a dremel on my 4013 TSW to make it more bearable.
Perfect on 3913, 908, 4013, and 4053 single stacks however. I wished there was a flat panel version for the 6906/4013TSW frame.

HAH! Glad you like them, but I couldn't wait to get the Hogues off mine. I put factory delrin on all but one of my 3913/14/908s and I'm a happy camper.

Same here. I picked up a 5943 a while back off of here. Ditched the Hogues ASAP and went with the factory original flat backstrap grip. SO much happier.
I love the flat factory grips. I have them on everything except the 3953. I wish they were a bit more grippy though. They're a bit too slick.
Pachmyar and Hogue make slip on grip sleeves that will work with a variety of 3rd Gen guns. I have them on my 3913s, CS9, and 457s.
I know. I hate the slip on grips. Look like an afterthought. I always take my grips off when I clean and they would just be an impediment

Slip on is a bit of a misnomer. It's more like stretch, pull, roll, heat, re heat, repeat, interlaced with a healthy dose of profanities!
They do take a bit of work, but once on they eliminate the slickness of the Delryn OEM grips and fit my hand very well. Others will of course have different experiences.
I had a pair on my M&P 45 for years. They worked very well but made the gun a handful for sure. When they wore out, I replaced them with Talons. I have come to like them way better.
I agree. Talon could make them for the 3rd Gen guns. The whole grip comes off so it wouldn't be an issue. I'd have one on every 3rd gen I have.
