I put a set of houge grips on my 3913 and I think it is a big improvement over the grey factory grips both in looks and feel in the hand. Very easy to install only about 10 minutes

Agreed I have them on my 3953. Much more comfortable. Same thing on Sig P239 but that's a much more dramatic change.

I have the Hogue on my 3953, but the factory on my 3953TSW. That's the early model with the 7 round mags so the Hogue's won't fit.

On a single stack, they are great. On a double stack full size, they are very good, but a hair fatter than factory. On the double stack compact models like the 6906/6946, they are an abomination, since they aren't individual panels but are instead a wrap around type with fat finger grooves.

One big bonus to them is the ease of taking grips off and on. I take grips off when I clean. Solvents and like get under there and congeal. A friend of mine inherited his cousin's 4506 when he died. Had pre-recall factory grips. The gun was filthy. Like the worst I've seen. It was kept in a holster in his cousin's truck. But underneath the grips was Nasty. My friend opted for the rubber Hogue's and he couldn't be happier. Once you're used to it, the factory grips aren't a big deal to take off, but there's always the possibility of bending the sideplate. The Hogue's screw on like traditional grips so no worries there.

HAH! Glad you like them, but I couldn't wait to get the Hogues off mine. I put factory delrin on all but one of my 3913/14/908s and I'm a happy camper.
Thank God for choices! :D

That is exactly correct.

I've replaced all my S&W factory Hogue's and kept them BUT conversely I have Hogue's, ("rubber",) for most of mine that didn't originally come with them. I have both straight and curved Delrin's for the ones that had that option. Choices.

For me Hogue's on the "littles" are just too thick, too sticky. Again just my opinion, they are just not acceptable on the CS's. But I'm different in that I didn't like the grey grip on my NL. It's been changed out and put in the box just in case the next person wants to put it back on.

Yep choices are great when grips are involved.

Grips are very personal...............

All my 39xx guns wear Hogue checkered wood grips...... little curve to the backstrap and more hand filling...... makes no practical difference in concealed carry over the past 30+ years.

Checkered feel a tad thinner than smooth, give a better grip and unlike the rubber grip the wood doesn't drag on clothing.

I agree they are not acceptable on a CS9. I had them on CS9 that I once owned and they feel WAY fatter than the ones on my 3953. I don't know if the rubber is actually fatter, or the stubbier grip of the CS9 made them feel fatter, but there was a major difference in the feel of them over the 3953 and the 3913 I once had.

Again, I really like them for the ease of taking them off for a cleaning. The one piece factory Delrin's are a pain until you get the hang of them and most people probably never bother. In fact, every 3rd Gen I have owned that came with them (well over 2 dozen) was nasty underneath them when I took them off for a good cleaning. Bending the side plate for those who don't know how to do it is a real possibility.

This is my exact experience, the grooves drives you finger up into the bottom of the trigger guard and it is uncomfortable. Ended up grinding down the grooves with a dremel on my 4013 TSW to make it more bearable.

Perfect on 3913, 908, 4013, and 4053 single stacks however. I wished there was a flat panel version for the 6906/4013TSW frame.

Yep. I don't know why they're single sided panels on the full size and single stacks, but those huge wrap arounds on the double stack compacts.

Same here. I picked up a 5943 a while back off of here. Ditched the Hogues ASAP and went with the factory original flat backstrap grip. SO much happier.

I love the flat factory grips. I have them on everything except the 3953. I wish they were a bit more grippy though. They're a bit too slick.

They do take a bit of work, but once on they eliminate the slickness of the Delryn OEM grips and fit my hand very well. Others will of course have different experiences.

Slip on is a bit of a misnomer. It's more like stretch, pull, roll, heat, re heat, repeat, interlaced with a healthy dose of profanities!

I had a pair on my M&P 45 for years. They worked very well but made the gun a handful for sure. When they wore out, I replaced them with Talons. I have come to like them way better.

I agree. Talon could make them for the 3rd Gen guns. The whole grip comes off so it wouldn't be an issue. I'd have one on every 3rd gen I have.

You can buy just a sheet of the Talon material on their web site then cut and paste it to your liking. It's cheep enough so you could get a couple of sheets and experiment.
