S&W M&P 10mm 2.0...feedback wanted

Optic PSA

I’ve been checking the tightness of the Holosun mounted on my 10mm M&P before each range trip by trying to wiggle it back and forth. It never seemed loose with the “wiggle test”, but on todays range trip, it launched itself after four mags through the gun. At first, I was worried that I sheared the screws, but after inspection the screws had backed themselves out. What I should have been doing was retightening the screws periodically. Optic wasn’t damaged, lost only one screw and thought I lost the mounting plate, but that ended up in my shirt pocket. And this was with red loctite on the screws. So please tighten those optic hold down screws before each firing session.

Had quite a few ftf problems with mine the first 3-400 rounds. That’s when the screws in my optic sheered and it smacked me in the forehead. Sent the gun back to S&W and after 6 weeks they returned it with a new slide. I added a metal adapter plate from C and H precision and about 200 in so far it’s working much better with only 1 ftf. Also the grittiness I felt with the trigger before is nonexistent since coming back from S&W.

Update: another 150 rounds through the 10mm since back from S&W. Zero ftf and red dot performing perfect. Couldn’t be happier. Mix of hot loads and weaker loads. Even a mixed mag and it ran everything today.

I have only put 1000 plus through mine but there have been no problems whatsoever yet

most of the ammunition has been my hand loads which are all full power from 180 grain to 240 grain projectiles I have run a few 100 rounds of factory ammunition through it but most of that is the Sig Ammunition

Decided to buy one...

I bought my new 4.625" M&P 10mm 2.0 yesterday, and I really like the feel. Cleaned and lubed, and ready for the range (once this darn hurricane passes through!). I hope that I'm as fortunate with mine as colt_saa and some other Forum members. My 10mm was manufactured in June 2022, so maybe some of the F2F and mag drop issues were fixed by S&W. I'll let you know after I get a chance to put some factory loads through it (I don't reload...yet!).

Just remember, that is like 90 cent every time you pull the trigger with factory target loads. Reloading will get you down to 30-40 cent.

Just got mine back from warranty repair at Smith. Only explanation on the invoice was, "Replaced Barrel."

Consistent failure to feed on 2nd to last round with variety of ammo and both magazines. Consistently 1' low point of impact at 10 yards. Hoping to get out this weekend to try it out. Really wanting to like this gun, but have concerns with reliability.

I did receive a quick reply from S&W Customer Service regarding the reported problems with the M&P 10mm. However, it was kind of a wishy washy response that didn't address the mechanical (springs?) issues..."we are finding that the majority of problems are due to shooters who are not use to the 10mm round. Most of the M&P 10mm that come in are test fired and show no problems". They also recommended that I go to a local range and test fire a rental gun. I really like the ergonomics of the M&P 10mm (4.6"), and will probably go ahead and buy one. It seems that quite a few issues are with the 4" bbl versions. Hopefully I won't get a lemon and have to go through the S&W CS wickets!
The heavier the recoil of the gun the more "limp wristing" degrades the performance of a semi auto handgun. Don

True to a point, I've had feeding issues with my 4" 2.0 10mm. That I do not have on my Gen4 Glock 29. "limp wristing" might be issues some have, but not everyone.

Limp writing is a BS excuse from S&W. They told me the same thing after my SECOND trip back to the factory.
My 4” 2.0 10mm would jam on the second to last round just about every time. I found an extra power mag spring and the problem went away. Why S&W can’t figure this out and fix it is a mystery to me.

Where did you find buy the springs, do you have a link? Thanks!

I agree with you 100%

My 4" is back from Smith after having the barrel replaced. Point of impact now matches point of aim. However, it still consistently fails to feed the 2nd to last round in the magazine no matter which magazine is used or what ammunition is used.

I’m still reloading 10mm for less than $.25 a round.
Based on a recent primer and bullet purchase:

8 cent primer
5 cents of powder
10 cent bullet
Cases that I already had

The mag dropping is due to frame flex and could be fixed with a part modification. I would assume S&W us working on it.
In the meantime, I would love one of you frustrated 4.6" 10mm owners to sell me your pistol for cheap. I'd fix it and have another cartridge to reload (my Grandson needs a sidearm for Griz country).
