NEW AAA Visa Card Customer Service - Totally Worthless

AAA issued new Visa credit cards. The new cards are issued by Comenity bank. Their Customer Service phone was totally worthless.

Wednesday (10/12) I used the new card at a grocery - it worked.

Thursday morning (10/13) i TRIED to use it for a purchase at Amazon.
Sale was being held PENDING for up to 48 hours.
I cancelled the order.

Later Thursday I TRIED to use at a pharmacy.
"Declined due to Suspicious Activity."

Two calls to the phone number on back of card wre a waste of time.

Firsts call never reached a human. Menu never had anything like Fraud / Suspicion.

Second call finally a human (Mumbling Miss), no clear speech.
Mumbling Miss had not concept/knowledge/comment about "Suspicious Activity".
Many times I asked for a Supervisor.
Mumbling Miss kept arguing with me and never transferred me to a supervisor.
Mumbling Miss finally hung up on me.

Fraud / Suspicious Activity - Don't Bother Calling Us!

Have not heard any falling temperature in Hades,
I will not be using the New and NOT IMPROVED AAA Visa card.

I only use credit cards from my credit union or Citicards for exactly this reason. In 2017 I was in the Philippines and bought a ticket on Royal Thai airlines; immediately after someone in Bangkok made a $3 purchase. Citi texted me immediately, cancelled the card, and when I called the Citi customer service folks were competent, helpful, and fast.

Similarly, I had my pocket picked in Manila. Cancelled my credit union debit and credit cards within minutes and never had an issue.

These calls are routed to individuals in other countries, as we all know. These poor folks in many cases have a limited knowledge of English and are frankly untrained to handle the more difficult situations. I forget the issue, but the young woman handling my call had an Asian accent. What struck me most was the rooster crowing in the background! You can't make this stuff up!

The BEST credit card I have ever had is the Costco Citi Visa card. I get rebates at the end of the year to the tune of 4% on Gasoline, 3% on restaurants, 2% from Costco themselves and 1% on the rest. I average about 2% per year and they send you an actual check that you cash at Costco and you can use the money for anything and anywhere.

There are lots of gimmick cards out there so actually doing the math is important. This card won't suite everyone - but most do benefit from it.

My son had credit with Comenity bank. After and before his divorce he and and his ex got in very bad financial trouble. I had not cosigned no had my daughter but Comenity Bank started calling us with collection pressure. This is illegal. After about the third call to both of us I informed them that if I or my daughter received so much as one more call I was hiring an attorney to sue for outrageous amounts for these illegal threatening calls. The calls ceased.
Eventually after the divorce and the elimination of the source of the money problems my son cleared up his financial problems.

AMAZING - You actually talked to a human who listened!

They called us not the other way around. Yes they listened. My son is an attorney and he told us that what they were doing was illegal and they would know it and to get the message across. I did and they quit.

I have a Costco Visa/Citi Card and a regular Citi Diviend card. Citi is probably the best out there. My daughter has a Disney credit card and used it to take the kids to Disney twice with the accumulated points. She hasn't stopped using it and now has worthless points because the kids are too old for Disnay and it's too damn expensive. All this time she could have had a credit card that gives you money back.

UPDATE - Amazon - Visa - Chase - GREAT PHONE SERVICE

UPDATE - Amazon - Visa - Chase - GREAT PHONE SERVICE

Amazon card arrived yesterday. I had a question about some text in the accompanying "letter".

Called Chase's number on the card.

AMAZING: Call was answered by a Live Human.
Yes, a Live Human, not a machine.

Received a Quick and Knowledgeable answer to my question.

Amazon - Visa - Chase - in wallet.

AAA - Visa - Comenity - three pieces in trash

I was trying to find call American Express once, and they called me! Asked if I were trying to buy a bunch of cell phones. Um, no. AE immediately canx'd the card and FedEx'd a new one overnight. I asked where the cell phones were supposed to be sent, was it NYC by chance? Yes, they said and how did I know? Because that's where they always try to send them--3rd time someone has tried to order phones on my cards.

Comenity Bank sent a letter ... Worthless

There is no mention of the "Suspicious Activity" or phone problems.

We sincerely apologize for any confusion or any inconvenience.
If you have any further questions please call us at

The included phone number was for another
AUTOMATED AAA CUSTOMER CARE SYSTEM
.
Or is it AUTOMATED AAA CUSTOMER "WE DON'T CARE" SYSTEM.

I’ve had the Amazon Visa Credit Card with Chase Bank for about 5 years now and not had any problems. It’s my default card for Amazon and build’s rewards on my purchases, of which there are many. I’ve used the Chase Bank Visa Card outside of Amazon purchase’s also with no problems.

I joined AAA in the early 70s. They have gone from very worthwhile, to almost worthless.
