Now showing at the Golddollar Theater the holiday classic "It's a Wonderful Life." Since I missed the telecast of it, I decided tonight would be the night to watch my DVD of the uncult original version.

"It's a Wonderful Life" is special to me because I had the pleasure of appearing in two different stage producations of it.

In earlier years they played into the ground across several outlets. You could easily watch it 30 times during the season. I'm glad they limited how many times it's shown, makes it more special to watch. Now if we could get rid of A Christmas Story 24 hour marathons. Replace it with a marathon of all the iterations of A Christmas Carol.

A classic! IIRC, filmed in the summer. All the snow had to be trucked in.

I never really liked this movie because the evil banker gets away with stealing 8,000, a ton of money in 1947! I guess I am missing the message, I wanted some punishment for him!

Well, Trooperdan, here y' go. Merry Christmas, Bedford Falls!!!:D

Its a good movie the first 100 or so times you watch it. Honestly, its been played to death and I haven't watched it in years. No interest at all anymore. :(

Sometimes I think it's time someone did a remake, but with a plot twist in which it turns out that Clarence the angel is actually the devil and Bailey turns out to be the villian.

A popular seasonal movie on TV for many years, but only a small part of it at the ending has anything to do with Christmas.

Well, it starts and ends at Christmas. The Christmas theme bookends the story line.
FWIW, I think it's a great movie, one of my favorites. It was Jimmy Stewart's first film after his return from the War. I read that at the time, he was uncertain as to his future and his acting career.
Glad he stuck with it……
