Planning on going to Glendale this year. Will display my small collection. Will be my 1st time.
Lee Jarrett said the table needs a title. See above.
My dad was also David Reynolds. All of my guns are from his collection. Dad was a Marine Aviator during WWII and went to college on the GI Bill. Dave was an engineer, a gun store owner, a gun writer, a promoter and S&W collector.
Engineering degree from University of Houston. 1st Job was at Ford Motor Co in Detroit. In the 50's and 60's he put on gun shows in Oklahoma and Texas. In the 70's he got into the gun business. He brought Elmer Keith, Jeff Cooper and others to Dallas for seminars and shooting sessions. He shot .44 magnums with Elmer at 300 yds at the old Winchester Range in Dallas.

My collection is as follows.

.38 M&P Model of 1905 Target 6" shipped May 1913 to Emil Linck an importer in Hamburg, Germany. Has German proof marks. I have 2 letters.

.44 HE 1st Model nickel 6 1/2" shipped April 1916. Went to the Cowdrey Company, NYC. I have a letter.

.44 HE 2nd Model 5" shipped June 1926. Went to Frank Hamblen Deputy Sheriff Potter County Texas. Have a letter and an invoice.

.357 Magnum REG 657 5" shipped Dec 1935. Went to Potchernick's in San Antonio, TX. S&WHF documents established the gun owner as James C (Doc) White. Doc had a 40 year law enforcement career. He was a Texas Ranger, Austin TX police officer, mounted Customs Agent, Army Intelligence Officer in WWI, Prohibition Agent, and an FBI Agent. Have 2 letters and five S&WHF documents.

K-22 Outdoorsman shipped April 1937. Went to Cullum & Boren Co in Dallas, TX. Have 2 letters and an invoice.

Model of 1955 .22/32 Airweight Kit Gun 3 1/2" shipped July 1955

S&W 9mm Auto shipped Nov 1955.

Model 53 .22 Centerfire Magnum 6" shipped May 1961.

Also going to bring a 1941 S&W catalog.

Lee Jarrett said the table needs a title. See above for my title. Also considering The Not that Great Eight. Or Five Pre-war Hand Ejectors (and some other things)
My collection consists of eight guns. Planning on displaying them all. Welcome any suggestions for a table title.

How about "You toucha my guns, I breaka your fingers"?

Nice collection, make sure to keep your eyes on the RM while you're there.

Very nice collection. Thank you for your post.

I’m sure that whatever show title you may use, compliments will be many.

Thanks Terry,
Good idea. Think I will bring them all this year and do a one gun display next year featuring REG 657.

Thanks Richard,
Think your suggestion will be my table title. Much better than what I came up with.

See y'all in Glendale.

Made some changes to the original post. 1913-1961 A Small Collection will I think be my table title.
Will highlight a bio of my dad since all the guns came from him.
Think I will also have a little blurb about each of the years represented.
1913, 1916, 1926, 1935, 1937, 1941, 1955, 1961. 1941 because of the S&W catalog, the other years are when the guns shipped.
For instance in 1913 the 16th and 17th Amendments became law. The 16th amendment was the income tax. 137 degrees in Death Valley in July. 1st stainless steel produced in the UK. Panama Canal opens.
See y'all in Glendale. The Lord willin' and the creek don't rise.

If I might add to a suggestion already made, I would make sure you know why you are bringing them to the show? Is it because you have a small collection of random S&Ws, or is it because they were all your father's guns? Lots of members have a small collection, but probably no one has this many S&Ws passed down from their father.

I believe you are bringing them because they are very special to you and that should be the theme of your display. Pictures of your father, tracing as much as you can about how he might have obtained them, and when. As for my collection, I am more proud of my grandfather's S&W 32 DA now in my collection than I am my 38 M&P Target shipped to Ed McGivern.

Simply saying "Dad's Guns" or something like that is more meaningful than someone's small collection. I bet everyone would be more interested that they were all your dad's guns than anything else. Would bring many members fond memories of their relationship with their fathers.

To echo Gary's thoughts, maybe naming your table "A Collection From My Dad" might be appropriate...My Dad never spoke of guns or shooting from his youth, and yet his WWII Army records say he qualified as "Expert Marksman" with both pistol and rifle...He only bought one gun in his life, a Remington .22 caliber bolt action repeater with which he taught us boys to shoot safely, and his only handgun was a S&W Mod. 37 that my brother and I gave him at Christmas...I have neither of those guns today...:(

No matter how small a collection is, it becomes much larger when seen reflected in the light of memory of your Dad......Ben

Gary,
Excellent point. "Dad's Guns" sounds by far like the best choice for a table title.

Just happened to think. You have one of my dad's guns also. The 1st year Model of 1902 I sold you came from his collection. One of the transactions I regret.............sigh.

One thing that many S&W collectors cherish above all are family guns. There were tons of S&W's made but only these few belonged to my dad or grandfather and now me.

My dad was not a gun guy and he often said that he saw enough during the battle of the bulge. However, he never tried to stop me from wanting to shoot as a kid and actually drove me to a local indoor range in winter time over 10 miles away so I could learn properly.

I was lucky to inherit guns from my 2 grandfathers and well as some WWII trophies that dad shipped back from Germany. Of all the guns in my collection, those are prized above all and hopefully will remain in the family.

I believe dads gun-guns won last year for first time exhibit.

I think seeing guns with personal history is a great way to both share your family and S&W collecting with the rest of the group.

Look forward to seeing you there!

My father was not a handgun guy, but I did inherit several rifles and shotguns. My grandfather's 32 DA was a 2nd Model from 1881 and well could have been my great-grandfather's originally.

If I decide to sell that 1902, you will be the first to know.

Hey David, are we related? My Dad was a combat Gunny in WW2 and Korea. He was on the Marine Pistol & Rifle team from 1949-1956. Gold medals all won in 1952. His guns were stolen, but I managed to get the only one not stolen. A 1949 vintage Colt Woodsman Target pistol. I still have it. Larry Reynolds

Exquisite pieces
