:) It is interesting that the barrel appears to fold from the front of the receiver. This may be a clever workaround the BATF future attempt to ban folding stocks. Looking forward to range reports.

23-round magazines, too. Those will be hard to keep in stock.

I think it's more about symmetry in folding and getting the shortest possible overall length vs just a folding stock.

I'm not sure why there are comments about it not being a pistol or comments on the stock. It isn't a pistol; it is a pistol caliber carbine. The barrel is over 16" and the length is over 26". Is the concern that folded it's under 26"?

It looks like a cool application for a truck gun. I like the mag storage in the stock.

But I would need it in .40S&W as that's what all my M&P's are in other than my only 9mm Target/Range gun.

Prices seem to be all over the place, some more and some less than the $659 MSRP but I don't see any of my usual sources that have one in stock.

I handled one yesterday at my LGS. Felt sturdy; more so than the Kel-Tec,
trigger was much better than any Kel-Tec I've handled, and the side-folding mechanism felt durable and easy to operate. I've yet to shoot one, but hope to soon.

The take down rifles of old used interrupted threads to take down and had adjustments to take up any wear that might happen.

The folding mechanism appears to be secured by a simple latch. I'm not comfortable with the barrel/bolt junction depending upon a latch. OK, I'm a stick in the mud who isn't comfortable with innovation, but when it involves pressure in the 35K+ psi range, I prefer to be conservative. No idea what the shock loads of cycling are in ft/lbs, but I'll let folks braver(?) than I do the real world beta testing. OK, Kel-Tec does it, I don't buy their stuff either.

They are coming. Ones ordered during Shot Show are being sent.

I have almost the ENTIRE M&P collection from the 22s (long & short), through the FS M&P 45acps since they started about 20 (?) years ago. FS, Mid size, single- double stack... The 40 is the only exception, none of those. It (40) has/had some frame issues and was a bit too "snappy" for my liking. The 9mm was designed off the 40s frame good thing in my book.

Over the years I've had zero issues with any of my M&Ps. All first run, fresh tooling. Same goes for this new FPC in 9mm. I'm waiting for my order to arrive, hunted it down and got in on the first orders.

It fills my M&P handgun collection "nitch" perfect. Handgun and FPC are compatible, 2 (two) weapons, same calibers, same mags, all compact. Add Magpul foldable iron sights and it's good to go.

It's not for survival or self defense. Mine is for fun and plinking "short range" 100+ yards ??? Might just get two more for the Grandkids and building on their shooting their shooting skills. I HATE hearing "It's My Turn" !!!!

It's got everything I like, I have TONS of OEM mags. Only add on is fold down Iron sights. :)

Fair enough.

But as you said Kel-Tec does it, and has been doing it for what 10 years plus? And there are no internet horror stories of them blowing apart at the joint.

The world is full of different ways to do things. Not all are the best concept but somehow find a market at least initially (The auto and aircraft industries have a slew of examples.). The basic premise is a way to get a firearm to be shorter than 26 in overall length-when not functional. Since that isn't one of my needs, I'll spend my money elsewhere. I would be a buyer if it didn't fold-or take down for that matter.

Possibly I'm looking for a way to justify my opinion, but, I've managed to make it into my mid-70s despite being around a few "good ideas" that didn't perform as intended. This post reminds me of a quip I saw in the late 1960's: "When I think of the things I've seen, I thank God for the things I haven't seen."

Added comment: younger son has a Kel Tec handgun as a pocket rocket. He's happy with it, it works. But......field stripping requires tools and seems to require an extra hand. They definitely could have done a few things better. Possibly the target customer doesn't want to bother with field stripping to clean?

The concern is that this is the "Smith & Wesson M&P Pistols" forum. The FPC seems like more of a handgun with a stock and longer barrel than a rifle modified to shoot 9mm so this seems like a good place to talk about it to me. But I have had a couple of infractions for posting in the wrong forums over the years so I might not be the best judge of that.
