Hey gang,

I've scoured Google and found a lot of mentions that Hodgdon lists 3.1gn of Titegroup working with .223
I did this load with some 55gr-62gr FMJ and had 2 squibs.

The only confirmed source I could find on Titegroup and .223 was on this forum, a user reportedly used 4.0gn of Titegroup: Help me build my first .223 sub load please! -SilencerTalk

Does anyone else have confirmed loads of .223 with TG?

thanks!

Why not just use a suitable powder? The .223 was never designed for such loads. The fact that Titegroup will minimally work in the .223 is more of a stunt rather than a balanced load of practical value. Also, consider a rifle chambered in .22 long rifle.

The Hodgdon sight also listed Clays and Trail Boss!

Clays is not position sensitive and Trail Boss is very bulky. Both of those features are very useful in reduced charges.

There are lots of magazine articles about sub-sonic and reduced charges, you need more research.

I have 2 answers on Titegroup in the .223. No and Heck No!

If you want a sub load IMR 4759 but since it's no longer available try Trail Boss or AA5744.

Hodgdon has tested H4895 for reduced loads. They have a 60% load formula. I suggest you go to the Hodgdon site to read the whole thing if you decide to go that way.

A light load for the .223.

If by chance your gun is gas operated, this is not the best "Idea" that
one wants to play with.

A round fired EVERY time you pull the trigger
and a chance of a SQUIB !!

Feel LUCKY, do we ?

What are you trying to accomplish? There is no rifle caliber using jacketed bullets that is appropriate for sub-sonic loads!

Neither Tite Group nor Clays is appropriate for .223. or any other rifle caliber using jacketed bullets. Check the Hodgdon site someone posted a link to and use one of the propellants they list for the cartridge!

The best suggestion anyone has given you yet if you want quiet ammunition is to buy a .22 rifle. The other option is if you really want to use the .223 then buy some cast bullets for it.

WHAT YOU HAVE BEEN TRYING TO DO IS DANGEROUS.
