I bought another S&W pistol, model 5906 serial number: VZC39xx. I can't find the serial number in the Standard Catalog?

The pistol didn't come with a magazine, so I won't be able to try it until the magazines I ordered arrive in the mail.
I ordered 3 pcs Mec Gar M59 9/15 / MGSW5915B magazines.

In Finland, these generally cost *400-500
What do you think of my purchase?

Mec Gar magazines for the S&W pistols are every bit as good as the genuine S&W magazines. Mec Gar may have been the OEM manufacturer. The Model 5906 is all-stainless and overbuilt for the 9x19mm cartridge. As long as you change the recoil spring every 4000 rounds or so, the pistol will outlast you. I think you did well with your purchase.

Thanks, I have to buy the recoil spring, I don't know how much ex owner has shooted.

Buying a recoil spring in Finland is difficult. No one imports S&W parts, the brand does not have an official importer.
I have to try to search in Sweden or Germany

The magazines came quickly from a Finnish gun shop Asetalo.
Tomorrow I'm going to the range to test the 5906 and 2206.

If you cannot obtain a genuine S&W recoil spring, try to get a Wolff Gunsprings 14 pound spring for the S&W 39/59/x39/x59/39xx/59xx series pistol.

I have a 5906TSW. Loaded out it weighs the same as my S&W 645 automatic. Both are solid pistols. I would not be overly concerned about the recoil spring, it will probably function fine for range work for another 20 years. For self defense you want to eliminate any possible source of malfunction you can control.
I really like my 5906. Very smooth trigger, easy to control recoil, and it spis out a lot of bullets.

I respectfully disagree with the idea that there should be no concern about a recoil spring in an all-steel/stainless pistol. Weak recoil springs lead to battering of the receiver, which can cause cracks in the receiver. A cracked receiver can be difficult and expensive to repair and sometimes impossible to repair.

Try Wolf Gunsprings, website shows international orders.
