I bought a new 6" 629 in January. Model stamped on the grip frame is 629-3. Looking online, I was surprised to see this may be an older gun? I'm trying to figure out exactly what I have here but all my searching comes to the 3" variant. Any info on this gun, revision history, etc. is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

The 629-3 was produced 1989-1992. Yours should have longer stop notches on the cylinder, wood stocks, and square butt. It's a fine, sturdy revolver, certainly one to admire and enjoy. Got pics?

Thanks for the info. Mine may actually not be what I thought it was. Here are pics of the gun and grip frame.

Not a 629-3. Looks like a modern 629-6. Open the cylinder, and the frame should be stamped "629-?". If it is the 629-6, nothing wrong with that gun. I have the 4 inch version, and it is one of the most accurate N frames I own.

Thanks Larry. It’s a great gun and will certainly serve me well. I’ll check inside the cylinder to see if I can dine the revision number later tonight.
