Besides myself....Are there any other .41 Magnum fans out there?

Besides a few S&W's (Including a 1st year production) in .41 Magnum I have a Freedom Arms Model 97 and a scarce Marlin lever action chambered in it.

And currently I am looking at possibly adding a nickel 1979 production 8-3/8" M57 to the stable.

I assume some of you out there have been bitten by the .41 bug??

I know the round did not take off quite as hoped due to the .44 Magnum being so popular and some have said "What's the point!"

But for me, I am a fan!

I have 5 S & W model 57 no dash. All unfired in presentation case.

Speaking of a 8 3/8 Nickel. That was my last purchase. Again unfired purchased from original owner with box, papers, outer shipping carton and presentation case still sealed in shrink wrap.

Still seeking a first year model 1964 and a 4" model.

The .41 Mag is one of my favorites. I load and cast for it and have for years. I hunted down a Marlin Cowboy Limited some years back when the prices weren't so ridiculous.

Years ago, I was looking for a 3" 657 from the large run from 1986. A gentleman contacted me about one he had that he said was kind of rare. He sold me a genuine 657-4 Lew Horton, box and all, he had purchased new and never fired. I still can't believe I have it. It's the one on the top left with the full lug and ugly factory grips.

My favorite is an SFPD 58 I picked up last year. I'm on a perpetual search for an SAPD 58, but it eludes me.

...yes, there are a "few" of us....

What's truly sad is that there is more .41 ammo out there in both variety and quantity than ever before but almost no new guns... S&W has ONE, Ruger has 2, Henry 4, and Freedom Arms 2 (and a Single-Shot)...and that's about it...

Too bad S&W can't bring itself to make a run of 657 Mountain Guns or a 69 in .41....

Very sad....Bob

I have a 6" blue Model 57 and a Model 58. Have not shot the 57 in over 25 years, and have not shot the 58 since buying it.
I have several boxes of factory ammo and a bunch of reloads.

There are a lot of gorgeous guns shown here!! My limited experience from years past, (and strictly a shooter's perspective),with the 44 and 41 magnums is that if you have one you really do not NEED the other. To me there is not a lot of difference between them. However, wanting lots of both, that is different.

None here. But I'm sure others have had their dreams come true.

Does anyone build a revolver chambered in that cartridge today?

Must be a hand loaders only proposition.

Bought my 4" M-57 in 1980, I was such a dedicated reloader at the time it wasn't until 1990 that I fired a factory round. Though I haven't bought another. Mulling getting a Henry .41 Magnum.

I would love to find a pinned and recessed Model 57 either bright blue or nickel, four or six inch. Preferably one from the first three or four years of production with coke bottle target stocks and pinned on front sight base. A model 58 blue or nickel would also be nice.

Either one would look nice next to my 27-2 and 29-2. I already reload for 16 different calibers, so what's one more.

Uh-huh, I've sold a couple so I'm down to 72 from Smith & Wesson, Ruger, Taurus, Freedom Arms, Magnum Research, Dan Wesson, Jager, Uberti, Marlin and Henry Repeating Arms.

This Model 58 was my Dad's, he bought it new in December 1964 and it was my first introduction to the .41 Magnum.

I had a,really nice 41 no dash 4 inch but traded it for my 1932 38/44 outdoorsman. Wish they had made the pre 29 and 41 mag models in 5 screw models in the 50s.. 41,w unrelieved grips looks sweet..
Randy..
