I'm over the moon gitty with my latest find!!!

This is a police issue duty gun from the San Antonio Police Department model 58. I have many 58s in my 41mag collection, but an actually police used firearm has always eluded me. The holster wear is indicative of my years of service and I think it's beautiful. It came with Pachmayr grips which had to go. With the help of a member on this forum I found original PC factory stocks. This fills a large hole in my 41mag collection and can't wait for some range time with her!!!

Why We Don't Have A .41 Keith

Very nice! A New Yorker with a Texas service revolver!
I would love to come across a SAPD or Austin PD service revolver, since I live and work in said area.

The best I have been able to achieve, so far…
I’m a Texan with a New York Service Revolver!

Is that a model 57?

Well …. I think you two should swap guns then !

In 1976 while in the Army I walked into a gun store in Seaside CA looking for a cheap gun to use working an off duty security job. The owner said he had some police trade ins and sold me an SFPD engraved model 58 with basketweave swivel holster and drop pouch. Perfect. I think with box of ammo maybe $150 (really can’t remember though). The PD markings were not factory stamp but more like jewelry engraved below the cylinder release. Wish I still had that one.

N PC magnas are hard to find.

And there are two kinds. The PC magnas on my M58 feel very different from the ones on my M520. The 58's are more rounded along their length, where the 520's have a distinct "break" along the front and back edge of the checkered area. The back side of the medallions are also different, one is silver and the other is black. Not sure if you can see the differences in this picture, and I wonder if the difference is because of the magnas on the M58 being because they are diamonds.

You can really see the difference in the two. The new style on the 520 and the old on the 1965 58. Now I'm wondering when they changed.

I've tried to find an SAPD 58 for years now with zero luck, but I'm happy you were able to track one down.

I did luck into an SFPD 58 thanks to a great member here, though.

GREAT find...I have not run into a 58 in a gun shop in at least 15+ years...and I bought that one...

Have had 10 over the years but only two left...a 70s vintage that was customized and a 1964 that was parkerized somewhere along the way... Both great shooters especially with the original Police grade ammo of a 210 at 950...
