We had no plans at all for dinner this evening and I did not feel like BBQing nor did the Mrs. feel like cooking. I asked one of my neighbors if they wanted to grab a bite out and they said sure. After discussing where we were going and after changing our minds 3 or 4 times, we decided to go to a newly opened Cheesecake Factory. We start out and the sky opens up with a monsoon type rain. We finally arrived at the restaurant but the rain was so intense we were waiting in the car for it to subside - it never did. After 10 - 15 minutes we dropped the women off in front of the restaurant and my friend and I parked the car. We took a deep breath, opened the car doors and immediately stepped into a 4" puddle of water. After running to the restaurant we were drenched. When we got in we found out there was a 2 - 2 1/2 hour wait - not happening! So we got drenched again running back to the car to pick up our wives.
We laughed and started discussing where our alternate restaurant would be. We decide to go to an Italian restaurant which by the time we got there the rain has let up for the most part. We parked and as we got to the restaurant we discover they had closed for renovations until October. OK - back to the car and we choose another restaurant. I had suggested that we give them a call because it was almost 8:00 and they might close early Sunday evenings. Yup - they were just about to close and we would not have gotten there in time. Out of desperation we finally wound up at a local pizza joint (I just had pizza last night) however at this point we were ready to eat anything! So we entered the pizza place, were freezing because we were all drenched and the AC was cranking, but like troopers we ordered, ate and left.
First thing I did when we got home was to disassemble my P365 because it had gotten soaked. Dried it off and lightly oiled it before reassembly. I also wiped down my Carbon steel Spyderco knife with oil and changed my clothes. We wound up back at my house for coffee and desert - then laughed our butts off. It certainly wasn't the evening we had planned but it was a huge comedy of errors and failures. I certainly would not want a repeat of this evening but it certainly was an interesting and comical one!
