That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Doesn't Iodine help prevent Thyroid Cancer after exposure to certain radiation? I would think, using Iodized salt would be considered prophylactic just in case the big one is ever dropped.

They've put it in table salt, in the US, since 1925, to prevent goiter, which is caused by iodine deficiency.

The last time I was in the hospital, the only complaint I had about the food was it was so bland. One day I picked up my chicken salad sandwich and lo and behold there was a salt packet. I quickly hid it and nursed it for a week, a few grains at a time.

Ruthie was born with a horseshoe kidney. It is deformed and has to do the work of two. A high sodium intake can impair the kidney's ability to remove liquid leading to high blood pressure. She keeps this at her end of the table and uses it liberally.

As I said above, her doctor sees no cause for worry. One size does not fit all.

I've seen more ridiculous threads with more ridiculous comments.

I just don't know where.

we always get more salt packets than we need and then just put them in the center console. Problem solved.

I don’t use the salt shaker much any more.
But the pepper shaker is a different story.
Have to have one on the table and it needs
Big holes ,I want to see it coming out.

I want to see it coming out of the grinder. I buy the best black peppercorns I can find, by the pound. From the Malabar coast of India. No resemblance to the dust found in most restaurant pepper shakers. It's just hot, no flavor! Nutmeg is another spice that really wants to be freshly grated.

Rick
