They've put it in table salt, in the US, since 1925, to prevent goiter, which is caused by iodine deficiency.Doesn't Iodine help prevent Thyroid Cancer after exposure to certain radiation? I would think, using Iodized salt would be considered prophylactic just in case the big one is ever dropped.
