Today I picked up my Tisas GI 1911:

I fired 100 rounds of Winchester ball today and it fed and fired flawlessly. I am believing what they're saying about these pistols. It's a very, very good quality gun for the money. No complaints.

I added surplus GI grips and bought a web belt for the gun to keep with the World War 2 theme. I like it a lot. I cannot afford a real one but this scratches the itch nicely. Will pair nicely with my carbine and Garand.

I have been trying to ignore the itch for one in 9mm. Don't know why it is so appealing to me. Probably can't even see the itty bitty sights.

I have a Colt Gold Cup and a Springfield WWII clone and for some reason I shoot the WWII GI with those tiny sights better than the big Elliason sight and 4 lane highway rib on the GC.
Just weird

You are right. The itty bitty sights are hard to see. But for what you will pay you can get the sights changed out and still not be out a significant amount. That is what I am going to do with my 9mm GI example. A trip to Heinie is in its future.

I have three 1911's; a Gold Cup, SA with large Novak Sights and a SA with smaller Novak carry sights. In addition to the sights both of the SA's have other modifications and tuning. My intent is to leave the Tisas in military G.I. issue with the exception of the caliber. My other 1911's are all 45 acp.

OP Glenn, can I ask where you picked up the holster in your pick? I would think the belt is available at an Army/Navy Surplus store.
I'm sure you'll like that pistol. I have a date at the range with mine on Thursday; it's been a while, and I like shooting the 1911. It makes me feel like I'm in a Japanese B movie and I'm shooting Godzilla with my .45!!

I got it from Amazon. It's not bad at all.

Im not a semi auto fan but finally bought a Tisas GI 45 last month. It has reliably feed all of my 225 gr, tumble lubed reloads without a hitch and is very accurate . About 100 rounds so far. I plan to try some plated Barry's bullets next.
The one question I have is if there is a device to make it easier to load ammo into the mags.

There are a lot of mag loaders available. I bought several 3D printed mag loaders for various pistols that I own. Haven't had any break and they were of simple push down n load style.

I have been very happy with my Tisas. (Tank Commander 9mm)
the great Chuck Rogers built an incredible full custom on one, and used most of the factory parts. Good enough for Chuck? Good enough for me.

Thanks

Thank for your evaluation of the Tisas pistol, sure seems like a great value. I have a holster like yours that my father used from his service in Army Air Corp WW2. It is still in excellent condition.

Fur Fins and Feathers in OH have the GI model in sale for $349 till the end of September. I know they are made in Turkey, but how can something this good be made half a planet away, shipped to the US, go through a distributor, to a retail outlet and still be this cheap.
