California is one of 5 states where firearms rights are NOT protected in their state constitution. 4 of the 5 are notoriously anti 2A. The 5th is moving briskly in that direction.

New Mexico has it protected, and their governor obviously doesn't care.

Thank you for the update.

Signed by the Governor today. Goes into effect the first of the year.

He also signed a bill for a tax on firearms and ammunition.

Read about this yesterday. It doubles the taxes on both. Of course, the money will go to wherever they want it to go, regardless of where they say it is supposed to go.

I also read where they might be going after classic car owners in certain locales. Zero emissions and all that.

Man, Commifornia really sucks. Regards to the people who love the state and/or can't get out of it...

As noted above, he signed it already. Newsom hates guns and hates people who own guns. It is a personal / family thing with him. It is clearly unconstitutional and will go down on appeal, inconveniencing a lot of people in the process. Also the 11% excise tax is from what I have been told by people who know more about it that me legally dubious but not as clear-cut as SB2.

Get out of Calif. as soon as you can! But do not bring their messed up values to your new home. The locals do not like it. We have that problem here in Florida. I hear it all the time "That's not the way we did it back home". My answer to that is then go back home.

The late, great Lewis Grizzard said this about that, "Come on down, move on in, eat our food, breathe our air, marry our women . . . just ONE THING WE ASK - Don't tell us 'how you used to do it back home" - if you don't like it here, Delta is ready when you are !"

(For those who don't remember , Delta used to be the airline that serviced that part of the country and their slogan was "Delta is ready when you are !");)

Like the above poster said. Move, but leave the California ideals behind. Look at Colorado as the perfect example of what California transplants can do to a great state.

And Washington State as well.

My job used to have me constantly driving around and it was like every third car had California plates on it.

Wasn't long after that in the small towns, where people used to wave at me, that suddenly idiots were driving aggressively and cutting people off and they of course had California plates on them and those nice towns folk were not so nice to strangers anymore.

I watched it happen.

The trash that they get elected couldn't care less about the Constitution or even our ability to protect ourselves, they push an agenda that fills their bank accounts in the form of funneled down money from the Bloomberg billionaire types and that's pretty much it.

Thank you for the vote of confidence.

I wound up with two sets of orders to CA in my military career (including the last before I retired). I spent most of my time East Coast and grew up in rural Ohio. There are valid reasons (at least to me) why I am still here for now.

I was stationed at NWS Seal Beach, Ca. as the Guard Chief and NS Long Beach, Ca. as an Security Advisor/Trainer. Both were great tours. dealt mainly with the local police and we had our own ranges to shoot on. That said, one of the best days of my military career was the day my orders were effective to leave Calif. Also did a month at El Toro coming back from RVN.

Sorry if commitments keep you tethered to Ca. Hopefully, you will have a choice to leave there if you want.

Meant some real good people while I was stationed there and still I am in contact with them to this day (all have moved out of Ca.) Also meant some folks that let their liberal politicans do there thinking for them.

I spent a little time at NAWS China Lake doing some systems testing. That area, and Ridgecrest, is like most of CA, a physically beautiful part of the state and country. It's too bad the politicians have ruined it. Wish you well….

I hope you Floridians are enjoying it while it lasts. 1/2 million northerners a year invading your state...not all that think as you do...means change is inevitable. You should have been content with just the snowbirds...stay for winter, go home for the summer, and don't vote.

Parents need to get out of that state before their kids take roots and feel trapped there by their jobs, friends, and in-laws after they get married.

I've been going to AZ for almost 20 years, retired this year and am working on selling my house and getting out there permanently.

When I was vacationing there was nothing that I hated more then a rental car with CA plates! The locals will tell you that they aren't afraid of anything but a u-haul with CA plates.

Most people don't realize the impact the Immigrant Invasion is going to have on our elections. Most red states will flip to blue within two election cycles when they are made legal voters.
Then it's GAME OVER.

Snow Bird time is creeping up on us. Starting to see out of state plates already. I remember my Great-Grandmother complaining about them.
