I'm seeing all of these PSAs touting the "Antidote" for drug overdoses and they ALL say "This is the only option" to stop OD deaths.
Not ONE of them says "Don't use these ILLEGAL DRUGS" or you may die.

Yet, these same people want to ban "Assault Weapons" and "High- Capacity Magazines" to "Prevent Deaths"?

The thought process escapes me!

I am so sick and tired of trying to save the stupid....some days I think...why dont we just stop trying to curb drug use and let Darwin sort it all out.....

When I start hypothetically pondering such I think about the innocent people who are killed by those driving while under the influence; of the people who are injured, robbed and killed by those desperate to feed their habit by criminality; of the innocent families at their wits end mourning over their wayward child they would sacrifice for and have . . .

I despair at the direction this market for drugs is taking us as humans, as a society, as a nation. The smug, cold (but not untrue) observation by the corrupt governments giving protection and shelter to the drug producers and cartels that "if you weren't buying it, there would be no market for the illicit production" doesn't excuse their culpability but cannot be argued against. If you're one who has been fortunate as I have not to have to had to deal with it yourself or for your own children we all know someone personally who has.
This is a life problem resulting from the same place that most if not all of our other maladies come from; a lot don't believe it, a lot don't want to hear it or acknowledge it . . . but as a species we have a different nature from the animals and that natural condition is in a fallen state because we have choices and the self awareness the animals don't, and we choose to do the wrong things even though we have access to a solution (which cannot be expounded upon here). The problem is universal to the species and the solution is one many dismiss and/or refuse to even entertain as being real and valid. As a species we would rather flail at the air, put our faith in ourselves or the cure-de-jour. When a patient is sick unto death and refuses the prescribed medication, refusing to believe in its efficacy or even its existence . . . there will be no healing restoration or salvation of life. Everybody dies . . . it's just a matter of when and how. After death . . . well, that's the question is it not ?

Having lost several "Snowblind Friends" and some family, they all have a different story with the same ending.
I CAN say I've known more people that dies from drugs than guns. One guy I knew from a bullet was at a party, the dude was all upset about losing his girlfriend and shot himself with a .22 while sitting around the fire. He missed the sweet spot and suffered a while before he died. I'm glad I was over in the trees relieving myself when he did it, but the mess will stick with me.
Don't know anyone personally dying from some wanna-be gangsta in a drive-by. The anti-gunners need to focus on something else like finding an answer to illegal drugs...without messing with people who use drugs responsibly, per doctor's orders.

“A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. The next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’

“Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?”

The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.”

I've always had a problem with "The War on Drugs". If we are having a war then Congress should declare war on anyone smuggling, transferring, dealing, or possessing illegal drugs. When caught they are prisoners of war subject to detention until the cessation of the war, not defendants with rights to legal counsel, reasonable bail, speedy trial, etc.

The Hague and Geneva Conventions would apply so POWs must receive humane treatment, medical treatment, shelter, food, etc. They cannot be forced to work in support of the war effort, but can be required to work for their own sustenance and needs. Assaults on guards, attempted escapes, rioting, and other grievous offenses can result in military tribunals with punishment ranging from disciplinary confinement to a firing squad.

Should the day come when POWs are to be released to return to their homes a parole can be required, including a lifetime prohibition against returning to any hostile actions (such as taking up arms) against our nation or people.

Oh well, I'm not the guy making the rules, just daydreaming here.

How stupid can we be? I have stopped asking because so many people take that as a challenge to demonstrate their capabilities.

The solution to the "war on drugs" is fairly simple. however, the implementation would be difficult. The American public most certainly does not have the stomach to actually win such a "war"

It only took El Salvadore a few short weeks to end their gang violence problem. That country apparently does have the stomach to enact and carry through with a somewhat "ugly" solution to a bad problem.

I don't know if it would work to let all the druggies waste themselves. If they all die who will pay taxes to support us in our old age? Who would do the service jobs? Who would fill the millions of Governmental jobs?

After the body count, it would take 30 years to stabilize and for my younger grandchildren and their piers to take over the word.

The permissive drug laws are wrong , the poison is so easy to get now .more and more people are trying it because the taboo almost seems to be disappearing
I support stiffer laws and sentences
To those that suggest the drug users are best left to die haven’t lost someone close to them . Shame on you for your attitude , these our our friends, mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters or may it never be so , our children .

The War on Drugs has been as successful as the War on Poverty.

There's where we would disagree. No one who isn't crazy dies of starvation in this country as some did when I was a child. Even 'poor' people here have phones.

Then again, I've been working in the Philippines, Iraq, Bosnia, and Somalia the past 10 years, so I may have a different view on the literal meaning of 'poverty.'
