How stupid are we?

I have known, and worked with, people with negative intelligence. When they died, their IQ went up to zero!

How Japan Funded Its Army With Drug Money During World War 2

Well.. the Chinese Communists are using drugs as a weapon now against us- just as it was used against KMT Chinese Government by the Imperial Japanese.

"One of the first steps Doihara took to peddle his wares was to produce special batches of opium-laced Golden Bat cigarettes, a luxury brand also made by Mitsui. They were shipped to Manchukuo where they were distributed free of charge to unsuspecting civilians."

"Forget tariffs. Forget all the computers, toys and textiles that the Chinese export to America. China’s most consequential export here is fentanyl, the illicit drug killing people in this country at the rate of nearly 80 a day."

"Fentanyl use in the USA has surged, pushing its death toll last year to 28,466 — nine times higher than in 2013 and a rise so steep that it has helped drive down the nation's life expectancy.

"And where is this illicit fentanyl originating? About 80 percent of the pure fentanyl seized by U.S. authorities last fiscal year arrived from China, often through the mail."

We lack the will to stop it and imo no good will come to the Republic from the current pushes to legalize drugs. 100,000 a year killed now from the drug epidemic now and raising. I have seen people OD in local coffee shops, markets etc and the coffee servers in my area find people slumped on the floor in the rest rooms and call in medics with Narcon.

"Just say no" works. Getting Americans to say no don't.

Xi recently told Biden he would try to stop it. Sure he will. They also said Hong Kong would be left alone until 2047.

I'm seeing all of these PSAs touting the "Antidote" for drug overdoses and they ALL say "This is the only option" to stop OD deaths.
Not ONE of them says "Don't use these ILLEGAL DRUGS" or you may die.

Yet, these same people want to ban "Assault Weapons" and "High- Capacity Magazines" to "Prevent Deaths"?

The thought process escapes me!

It's very hard for a logical person to understand the thought process of lunatics.

Why don't we go back to a process which worked during the wild west. Post Wanted Dead or Alive Posters with pictures of the drug dealers with a sizable amount of money for the reward (paid by the Gov't.). It sure would be a lot cheaper than all the money being currently spent on the Drug War and would be big detrante for the drug dealers.

Be careful - these people are watching.

The solution to the "war on drugs" is fairly simple. however, the implementation would be difficult. The American public most certainly does not have the stomach to actually win such a "war"

It only took El Salvadore a few short weeks to end their gang violence problem. That country apparently does have the stomach to enact and carry through with a somewhat "ugly" solution to a bad problem.

You have a lot in common with the anti-gun folks in this country. They too could "solve" our gun crime problem in a flash if we could just get rid of that pesky Constitution...

I'd mildly suggest the lesson was about mercy.

Indeed it was, Biku, and thanks for that reminder. This is the United States of America, not some Third World hellhole, and we don't let people die in the streets here...even when they probably deserve to.

Regarding the genesis of this thread...I tell folks, only half-jokingly, that the Baltimore City Fire Department buys Narcan in the five-gallon economy size. In my thirty-year career, I responded to more medic assist calls than I can remember, many of them overdoses.

The routine was automatic for us. We would arrive to find an unconscious patient, sometimes with a very high heartbeat and very low breath rate, sometimes not breathing at all. We would begin bagging him to keep his blood oxygenated until the medics got there. If he arrested, as they often did, we would commence CPR. When the medics got there, they would take over and inject him with Narcan...whereupon the patient would awaken, deny using drugs, and tell us he didn't want to go to no hospital.

Frustrating? You bet! Aggravating? Absolutely! But not once, ever, did I hear one of my colleagues suggest that we not make every effort to save the life that was sprawled before us. We busted our butts for the citizens we served, without regard to their stations in society, or any other extraneous factors...and we wouldn't have wanted it any other way.

Yes, and the United States Revenue Cutter Service predates the USCG and the US Navy. Fast sailing boats to catch smugglers.
Prostitution, gambling, alcohol and drugs are bad for society, until the tax man cometh! Then, it's all cool!

all we had at the outset of the War for Independence were those revenue cutters.

darn right. The BATFE was spun off from the IRS, and is all about collecting taxes. Alcohol, tobacco, tax stamps on firearms and explosive licenses.
