My 9mm Target Champion and a Wischo marked 745. I have just over 600 rounds through the TC and it's the nicest pistol I've ever handled or fired.

Very nice. I've never seen one of those Target Champions in person. I understand that they disprove the old notion that the 9mm Parabellum is not "an accurate cartridge".

I'm shooting federal 115gr and you can easily shoot through the same hole when you do your part . I haven't tried any b27 targets yet but I expect the results to be just as amazing as the 4inch targets I use. I am no expert by any means. Just pulling the slide back, it feels like two slick pieces of ice rubbing together. It's something you have to experience to truly understand. They are absolutely worth the price if you plan to shoot them . They are definitely over built and the frame is hefty. The slide and frame rails are almost sharp enough to cut you.

Ah , I see you bounce back and forth also . Mine , both the 5in and 6in , seem to prefer the 124gr . Never seen a 745TC , gives me something to look for . I do see a 40TC in my future though . I know what you mean Walter , but until you shoot a TC , you don't know what you're missing . My 6in was converted from a 5in from a famous German gunsmith and in it's own way is even more accurate than my 5in .

Does anyone know the production numbers of the 5inch short lug 9mm Target champion and the years they where made?

Skjos might have some idea . I did a search and he put out a post about the 5906 Super9 in 2012 . He actually had a picture and a little write up about my 6in . It's amazing what you can find using the search button .

I have just over 1100 rounds through the Target Champion now and I cannot express how awesome of a gun it is. These guns are so fine they deserve to be shot .

If you go to the top of the thread you should see "Notable Threads" (I think that's what it's called). There is a noted thread called PC Variants and production numbers(?).

Some great information brought together by some dedicated individuals. I just added information concerning a previously unknown serial number for my 845 TC.

You will go down a rabbit hole, so prepare to take some time. Perhaps pour a drink first and shut the door...

I've got a question for you 9mm TC, (and I suppose 45 TC owners too.) Are the frames drilled/tapped for the Karl Nill grips? Those TC's with Nill's look awesome and probably aid in accuracy. The ones on my HK P9S Sports Group III are perfect for me.

Just wondering if anyone has taken the Delrin or rubber grips off to see what's underneath. I'm sure you have but I've never heard if they all were accepting of the Nill's.

I remember BMCM doing a great tutorial on installing the Nill's on the PPC9's. Not something I'd do myself or pay someone to do.

The S&W PC shop drilled and tapped the frames, not all at first but eventually. The TCs were shipped with rubber S&W logo Hogues, for the big hands of the Germans. The distributor or an individual would add the Nills. Frames that were not drilled or tapped would have been done over seas.

Of my three export/imports, only two are drilled and tapped. The 5906TC had rubber Hogues. While cleaning it I notice it was drilled and tapped. So I ordered a pair Nills for it. The 4006 Limited is not marked TC but it is drilled and tapped and had the Nills on it when I got it. The he 845TC came with the Hogues and is not drilled and tapped.

Front to back, 845TC, 4006 Limited and 5906TC

Love these guns! Pull the grips. Don't worry. If it is tapped, great. The Nills are beautiful.

Here's my TC broken down for a cleaning (after every range trip of course) . As you can see it's not drilled. The low SN would lead me to believe it's a earlier one. I have not been able to confirm as even in the notable PC thread there's not a lot of information on the TC's. Even checking my 3rd edition standard catalog the product code is the only information on it in the book . I seen a pair of nills grips for sale recently and they where 300+ dollar iirc . Also when I replaced the houges I had to sand down the bottom of the straight back plastic grips because the grip pin would not line up in the frame with the mag well installed .

Sorry to hear you had that trouble. The Nills do make routine cleaning easier with their conventional on/off. They are expensive to your point though.

How does the titanium barrel bushing come out? I didn't know you could remove them.

I saved these pictures from that previously asked question. Seeing it is easier than explaining it.

Rotate the bushing so it lines up the two larger areas then pull out.

Here ya go…

*** Edit to add ***
It probably doesn't matter but I've always put them back in the same position/direction that they were. (Forward side forward, rear to the rear.)

On a side note, don't recall why I did it but I called Briley looking to purchase an extra bushing and they said no problem, they would make one for you if you need it. Pretty good after all these years and to my knowledge they are not used anymore on any platform, I think.
