WHAT CHRISTMAS SONGS DO YOU HATE?

I'm not really sure why I loathe "Little Drummer Boy". However, one Christmas I heard Joan Jett's version. That one's not bad.

The example above aside, I wonder why some singers/groups feel obliged to produce a Christmas album? The "Twisted Christmas" albums excepted. Some of those are hysterical.

Some of the older standards in their original language are really neat.

Having sung in an Anglican (Episcopal) cathedral choir for 30 years (alas, no more) we sang a lot of those, one of my Christmas favorites being various arrangements of "In Dulci Jubilo", in this case in both original languages, German & Latin:

2 words. Mariah Carey.
LOL! On one of my go-to classical stations this morning, I heard a somewhat familiar tune played by a string quartet. To my surprise, it was MC's "All I want for Christmas is You", played by The Vitamin String Quartet  (Yes, it's on YooToob bit I won't post the link.)

They've been around since 1999. How come I'd not heard of them B4, I wondered.

A long time ago my mother had an electric santa that walked while playing some inane x-mas song. It disappeared, but a photograph was later discovered that showed the exact moment a m-80 went off on it's back side. Smoke, a little red fur and on to a Happy New Year!

Unlike most of you, I love all Christmas songs. Even "I Want an Alien for Christmas." My absolute favorites, though, are the Guaraldi arrangements from A Charlie Brown Christmas. If I had to pick one song as a favorite it's probably Christmas Time is Here (sorry ditrina).

An old recording of me playing it (rather poorly) on piano:

 You're a braver man than I am, Gunda Din!

As to the Vince Guaraldi, it's such a classic that it's hard not to like... although the singing is fairly ghastly, even for a kids' choir. (Probably intentional, for "atmosphere.")

But YMMV, and it's all good. There's enough of just about everything to keep us happy (or grumbling.)

Paul McCartney's Wonderful Christmastime.
Legend has it that the CIA came up with waterboarding after they were banned from using this and Minnie Rippertons Loving you for interrogation and pain compliance at Gitmo.

Add "Happy Holidays" by Andy Williams.
Imagine working overnight in an office building with this song playing on an endless loop all night.

The barking dogs “Jingle Bells” and “I want a hippopotamus for Christmas”.
WHAT?????    You're making this up just for effe... oh, wait...
