I went out this morning with a Ruger MKII "slabside," a 1970 Model 15 and the Sar CM9. Right off I'm having trouble with the muzzle heavy .22, I do better with the MKII 4 3/4" standard. It's me, not the gun.
Broke out the Model 15. 53 rds of Privi 158 gr LSWHP, 110 gr Federal HP's and win Ranger 130 gr. All rounds impacted in a 3" center no matter how fast or slow I fired (all D/A). It's the gun, not me.
The SAR gobbled 100 rds of ball ammo with 1 failure to go into battery. I've had exactly 3 failures to lock up, all with Rem "250rd Mega Box." I have 3 more of those boxes (bought for $169/K in 2019) and will be glad when it's gone. I shot at a secondary 2" bull on my "Amazon 12x18" splatterburst target" and put 2 D/A "1st shots" through the same tiny bullseye. Luck, not me or the gun.
There was an "early 20something" fellow a couple lanes over struggling with a 2" Taurus 6 shot snubby. Since I was out of .38's I handed him the Model 15 with which he put 6 in the tiny bullseye on his tiny target. "Man, that's schweet!" he says. Not bad for a 55 y/o gun I sez.
Beautiful day, saw a fat turkey on the way out and reflected on how good life is. Helps also to save a young gun from "wheelgun hate."
PS, no pix, left my phone home on the charger. Coincidence? I think not. Joe
