Godzilla Minus One

I'm getting scared.
As far as Tokyo getting trounced every week, look at the buildings they lived in...they were made of Graham Crackers and cheap plaster o' Paris.
That was hard to fathom at 10 years old.

Actually meant as a joke. My wife thought I was crazy showing all the rubber suit monsters and atomic mutated monster movies along with Dracula Frankenstein and Wolfman to my daughter...but when she and her best gal friend from next farm over got to know the whole script of Top Gun...and they knew all the TV commercials by heart...I considered talking to a Dr friend myself.. But she did know how to reload.......shoot better than the boys her age...and older.... ran the gun shop when I was working...and could plow a straight row...I figured she was gonna be ok. Neat to share time with your kids...Only rubber suit guy I liked was the guy from the Black Lagoon....well....And

Gort

I remember reading that in the original Godzilla, Raymond Burr was an afterthought. He appeared in a few scenes mainly because the producer thought that including a recognizable American actor would help the box office in the American release. I don't remember him saying much or being on screen for more than a few minutes.

Raymond Burr wasn't in the original Japanese version of Godzilla. All his scenes were added when the movie was released in the U.S. I actually like the original Japanese version better. ;)

Honestly until this movie I did not realize that there is an American and Japanese version of Godzilla. I always thought they existed together...but apparently the American films are not as story-centric and focus more on special effects. Plan to see Minus One this week and from everything I have heard, it will be refreshing to watch a movie that actually has a great storyline and no hidden agendas.

Update: I went and saw it tonight after posting this. Great movie. Had a very classic Godzilla feel with of course, modern use of cinematography. The actors were great. Subtitles didn't bother me at all, and the story is what drew you in.

Minus One was far better than the recent big-studio Godzilla movies. While the CGI was a step down from the high budget films, the characters and storyline were far more engaging, even when dealing with subtitles.

Highly recommended!

I'm going to need a good lawyer after this. I wonder if this Burr guy knows any.

Grew up watching these old movies. Finally got a weird bucket list check off years ago when I visited my brother in Tokyo and rode the chuo line which was the train line that the big monster eats
