I'm far from a geek so I hope I explain this OK. (My cat knows more about computers that I do)

Hit a spot I do not normally go into (Network and internet connections) Shows a couple things with my wife's name on it, thats fine that is the name for the locked WiFi connections we use. She knows a little more than me so thats the way its set up.

Now today I hit that area and it says SamSung washer and a bunch of letters and that it is tied into the computer.

Hopefully some one can tell me what that means.(Wife does not know that was occurring) Why in hell is my front loader washing machine hitting my internet. What can it be doing and why is it doing it?

I realize I will get some screwball answers, no problem, have fun. For the people that hopefully will give me a real reason please tell me why stuff like this is happening, what is going out on the air. It appears its only tied in when the washer is running.

Thanks

This might be a place to begin: How to connect to Smart Things on my Samsung washing machine? | Samsung Gulf

Without reading it, my guess is that you or your wife, or anyone else who has the Samsung app and is connected to your WiFi, can monitor the washer's progress. Samsung likely monitors the washer's condition.

Thanks. I was not home when the washer was delivered & installed. (It was a new replacement because of a warranty issue) If I was home I would have asked all pertinent questions and if not necessary for the washer to work would not have allowed it access to my computer system.

I guess it will be OK, just hope it does not have the ability to get into privileged items on my wife's and my computer. Washer has been here about a year now and just by coincidence I spotted that tie in! As a first class Luddite I'm not too happy about that potential invasion of my personal life.

If you want to disconnect it, in your wifi settings, where you see it connected, you should be able to click on it and choose to disconnect it.

Might be useful to stay connected, tho. Say you have a problem in the future with the washer. Seems likely that you would be able to call up Samsung and ask what's up if it is connected.

I have a whole house generator, Kohler, that is connected to an app like that so that the electric contractor who installed it can monitor its condition. (Except a couple of weeks ago I switched internet service providers, which led to having to reconnect all sorts of wireless stuff — iPads and phones, security system, audio system, printer, air-conditioning system, several TVs... That Kohler is the last thing remaining and it is driving me nuts... So I am taking a break. If I had known how much time and aggravation switching was gonna take, I would have sucked it up and stayed with the previous supplier..:()

I have a whole house Generac. Its about 12 years old (Prehistoric) and it does not have any kind of internet hook up. I have a service contract and also keep a close eye on the unit.

Thanks to all that contributed!-
