Serial number 47097. I bought the parts kit and the parts I got were in almost new condition. Almost no turn ring, great case colors, great bore and chambers. Internal parts are in great shape too. Serial number on inside of grips is totally legible.

An almost new condition 107 year old gun got destroyed. Makes me sad.

Yes a darn shame. But you have some beautiful parts there. We can only imagine what has been destroyed.
When I used to do vacation relief for the evidence Officer I used to admire the guns the State guy had in his car when he would stop by to pick up weapons headed for destruction.

Yep, another gun "Off The Streets"! Hooray for gun grabbers!

I heard a story a couple days ago that congress has learned of this (I can't remember the new phrase they're using for the un-destroyed parts) "problem". Someone has introduced a bill to require ALL these parts be destroyed.

I feel safer already.

But- but- but----
Haven't you thought about how much safer the world is?
Think about the children!

^^^ Well said ^^^
These children need one thing that they are not getting......
Parental supervision and oversight.... not a restriction on old gun parts.
(This comment comes the day after my sleepy little town reinstated a curfew. A group of 13 & 14 year olds have been out in the wee hours destroying things around town.)

Well, there's the infamous "Gun Sculpture" in Canada. :(
Lots of spare parts and frames in there.

Five tons of guns, made inert, then welded together into "art".

Canada, Australia, Great Britain, and at least a half dozen other countries have dragged in from private hands guns and made sculptors of them. When the Chinese, Russians, North Koreans or ???? come knocking on their door, who are they going to be screaming to for guns to repel the hordes, just like England did in WWII.

I think we should tell them to GTH. Guns in the hands of the citizens would have made Putin think twice, and it surely would have slowed down Hamas if not stopped them in Israel.

I'm in a major Blue city and I've seen little old ladies bring in collectible guns like this whenever a gun "Buy Back" program takes place. You seldom see any "bad guy" guns, mainly Vet bring backs that some widow didn't know what to do with until municipalities advertise a "buy back".

Long before gun buy backs, the San Diego Police used to take confiscated guns out to the trench off the shore of the Pacific Ocean and dump them into the water from a boat. The San Diego Union had a front page picture of an officer holding a Henry Rifle about to throw it in. Holy Moly. Oh the Humanity. Rifle was probably used in a bank holdup. Big Larry

Real nice M1917 S&W

Arrived today. Pics elsewhere on this forum. Nicest S&W M1917 I have ever seen. # 6929, flat stock circles, and concentric grooved hammer. A good 99%, and probably unfired. I don't normally collect US martial arms any longer, but I could not turn this one down. Big Larry
